Forgot, mentioned dashcam because “you can hear daughter slamming the brake and it hitting floor board “. The collision guy tried to start engine and said the brake went to floor.
You know what would be very useful would be to share that original full video. An edit or clip is not useful. Otherwise you're just wasting our time trying to convince us what you think you saw and heard.

If you're right, isn't it useful to have to video to prove such? Isn't that the reason you posted here to find others with this issue and gather support?

You may get that support if the video supports the claims.

no, air bags will deploy at any speed. if you are sitting at a stop sign and get rear ended, depending on the g force the air bags will deploy.
I've had two "under 30 mph" crashes (neither crash was my fault). The airbags did not deploy in either crash. One vehicle was a Ford F-150 and the other was a Subaru Forrester. The body shop told me they were designed to not deploy in those cases.

Something else that should be looked at in the OP's case, is the at-fault driver's mobile phone records at the time of the crash. I'd almost bet the driver was futzing with their phone (or some other screen).

What was the ‘message’? Was it audible or a dash message?
The following is from a post I made back in early Jan. 2024....

Seriously, What you get...
The center dash display turns into a graphic of two vehicles, colliding with each other.
The rear of the vehicles are up in the air and (don't know how to discribe it) like "Explosion" waves rising from the point of contact.
It Flashes Off and ON in Red about two times and there is a "Klaxon-type" sound.
It's all over in seconds. Just like in a REAL Collision. (I have been in two minor fender-benders, ALL with my FIrst Ranger..1992 & 2000.
But, Nothing Since!! ;).

Note for everyone that think this is BS: brake failure can fail even at the rarest level. I've experience the scariest thing in my life while driving a car for diagnosing a problem for someone else where he said the brakes did not work a few days prior.

I drove it, a few seconds before reaching an lighted intersection (going about 55mph), the brakes was rock hard!!! Could not depressed even a little no matter how hard I pushed it. I ran the red light. Super luckily there was no cars and no cops to see it.....nobody body would of believed it if I collided with someone or something.......it would sound like the stupidest excuse on earth that the brakes was rock solid. This really was the scariest moment of my life in a driver seat. Imagine going down a mountain with brake failure like this..........you wouldn't get a change at justice!!

Guess what happened next after I crossed the intersection? The brake worked fine again.

I brought it to Nissan and had to give an attitude for them to change the check valve at no cost. Glad they replaced it but not going Nissan again.

I drove up on a car with "student driver" stickers all over it yesterday. When I passed, I looked over curious how old the person was and of course they were looking down at their phone. Coincidently about 2 miles later I misjudged a yellow light. When I realized I was about to blow a red light I hammer the brake and was so impressed with the stopping distance and pedal feel. Gave me confidence for the future.
I'll be waiting to see the NHTSA report. 250,000 trucks built and the only two reports are from the same repair shop...interesting.

Ok. So no brake fluid, right? Collision guy confirm that?
Someone cut the brake lines? Puddle of fluid on driveway?

More questions with the partial info you give.

Seems to me one would want to exercise a little more caution in this situation than to go barreling towards an intersection while trying to diagnose brake failure......

Glad your daughter is OK!!!! Above all, that is the thing that matters.

After 5 months of ownership, if anything I would rate my Maverick's brakes as a bit more on the touchy side than anything else.

One thing the insurance company will probably do - pull the black box information if available from the car. If it was a Tesla, the whole thing would be studiously recorded. Not just the dash cam, but every parameter including brake application.

Anybody know if the Maverick has any functionality like this?

We ordered a new Maverick with the Ford Pilot 360 which suppose to brake if senses a collison. Daughter was going 23 mph between city blocks and tried to brake at a red light, the brakes did not work and neither did the Pilot 360. All caught on dash cam. The collison repair shop said, this was second Maverick he had to repair from a collison, the first one slammed into the back of another vehicle. Insurance company still doing test on totaled vehicle, I have filed a report with National Transportation Safety and I don't want another Ford or this one. Don't trust brakes. Anyone else have problems with brakes?
The hybrid brakes are grabby where they transition from regen to caliper braking, but no brakes at all? That sounds like a peel misapplication.

I am disappointed in the Maverick's collision assist. On my wife's Toy RAV4 it will lock the brakes if you proceed from a stop and a pedestrian steps toward the vehicle and the center screen and dash all show a pic of the person or object. I read somewhere that the Maverick's collision assist doesn't turn on until like 25 or 30 MPH! Just like the annoying auto high beams (which on the rural roads where I live, I then turn the H beams on (manual) and forget to cancel them...cause I got used to the auto feature).
You may want to research this, that would eliminate the auto brake malfunction if only going 23 mph.

Tried to download the video file, states "too large", spoke with the insurance company, they are not going any further with investigating this and just want to settle. Wish I could download the video just to prove to some of you, but "let's keep our fingers crossed, no one is killed in a situation as this." Getting her a Nissan Frontier this week.
