In Virginia they will make you changed the fog lights or they will tell you to remove them if they find out they wont turn off when the high beams are on. Just to let you know i work on cars everyday and used cars the va inspector will make us remove them or put covers on them if they find out they are aftermarket or not working properly how they should. Thats why i used the bcm to control this and i found out with another member how to use them with the DRL lights lol wich they will always be on if the car its on Drive and moving with Drl.

I have yet to see any mechanic in NY (yearly inspections) ever even test my fog lights to even see if they work for the last 30 years. I now this because most of my cars had a power switch way down below the dash for my fogs and I never had a tester ask me how to turn on my fog lights during an inspection. Burned out tailight bulb or high/low beam they care about but never my fogs even though they are supposed to ....any light on the front of a car in NY has to work if installed on a vehicle. Nowadays the only reason for a yearly car inspection is to gouge the consumer for another thirty bucks for a bulb or wiper (if they get lucky) and $21 for an inspection. People already replace their bulbs pretty fast in NY since troopers will give you a citation (fix for free in 48 hours or else pay a fine in court).
As far as lighting....I use my fogs mainly for more light in front and too the sides of my vehicle. If the US would up their standards to Euro specs so that our headlights matched their requirements then there would be less need for addiitonal lighting. Most cars have dismal front lighting ...getting better but still not great. As far as oncoming other drivers....sorry...I lost my respect for other drivers 5 years ago once they all started driving below speed limits in the high speed lanes and failed to get over. Drive in PA or NY thruway ....almost every backup is caused by slow drivers in the passing lane or trucks that drive in the passing lane and never pull back to the right. I constantly see jams a half mile long because some driver in the left lane won't pull back over and is driving along side another car going under the speed limit.

I have to admit that these DD fog lights are much better than I thought they would be. Looking at them from the vehicle front you wouldn't think they would project much light but looking out from the inside I can see the extra amount of light down in front of the vehicle and towards the sides that the low beams do not cover. They definitely work better than I though they would being recessed that far into the front bumper area. I just wish the amber backlights were brighter since they are somewhat dismal compared to my other running lights.

Interesting Note:
I have a Lariat and was going to provide another quick plug connection so that my fog lights would go off with my highs versus staying on - just in case I needed it to ever pass inspections. I looked at the wiring diagrams for a 2022 - unknown trim level (mine is a 2023) and I could not see how the low beam wiring would deactivate with the highs on. They do not. When the single high led is on the two low beams for each side are also on. So turning on the high beams in my Lariat keeps the low beams still active. That means on a Lariat the DD wiring will allow the fog lights to remain on with both the low and high beams on. You would have to use their red deactivation wire and hook it into the high beam circuitry to disable the fogs on high beams. Not worth the effort on my Lariat. Not sure if this would apply to the XL and XLT model lighting since I don't know if they use LED headlights.
I attached a pdf of my wiring since in a year I will never remember how it was hooked up since the wires are all in split loom wiring. Print out if you want and mark it up for yours. My switch is not the DD provided one.

I remember someone asking about the high beams the other day. Looking at the wiring diagram, I didnt see wire specific to the high beams either.

I wired mine up per instructions and they stay on when the high beams come on. Doesn't matter as I wouldn't use both together anyway and would not use high beams in the fog. Doesn't make sense to use the fogs with high beams because having the bright fogs on reflecting back so close reduces your distance sight so it would be one or the other, not both.

The high beam control tied to the lever must be tied into another control instead of the headlight console itself or else it wasnt well marked in car wiring diagrams. I didnt spend a lot of time reviewing all the schematics but probably will later this week since it bugs me. I also decided to pull my pushbutton and install a resister to dim the led once I figure out the size needed. Too bright late at night.

in the service manual on the headlamp assembly, The description for the blue wires (pin 3) CTRL MOD. -BEAM LOW and the one for (BN pin 13) says CTRL MOD. - LIN BUS # BCM 5. I have to wonder if maybe pin 13 might be what to tap for a signal. Pin 1 is CTRL MOD. DRL lights, pin 8 is fuse/circuit breaker and pin 15 is ground.

I honestly wonder if there is another control unit in the lamp housing since I remember people also having trouble tapping into the DRL to make other lights turn on and off with them. Pin 13 might just be the controller for everything.

Pin #8 in that same connector is the high beam wiring and it may be white or grey-blue for 2022 year but it should be a thicker 14 gauge wire. It was listed on the very next pages in the manual. SO basically all you have to do is tap the red deactivation wire to this wire to shut down the fogs when the high beams are on. I may add a plug in my car for it for inspections and just unplug it afterwards since there is not much to it. Updated my diagram with new info so that should complete everything and make it legal for those that need to comply with state laws.

BOOYAH πŸ‘ŠπŸ½ 😁 πŸ‘πŸ½ πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ to all the guys at Diode Dynamics. They came out with a great kit for the Maverick.

It looks great the light is awesome. And I still can't believe it. The new daytime running light addition ✨️ just adds even more reason to love your truck.

I attached some some photos, of course a lot of them lol.

That's a good point. The AUX lights and what not.
