Foglights Finally Diode Dynamics

From what I understood years ago when purchasing Saab’s and BMWs with foglights was that they are supposed to be placed lower than the headlights on vehicles. As to get under the fog and light up the ground ahead of you, because the low/high beams reflect off of the fog and diminish your visibility. I’ve always have had fogs on all my cars either built in or installed aftermarket and always under the bumper as low as possible. Worked perfectly and never had an issue. Plus the amber looks cool lol. Just my 2c, others will have their preferences.

That may be true but I don't need any more distance light than my high beams produce and my fogs always produce much more side lighting when they are on...that is what I need. I have deer strikes and near misses and they almost always occur from the sides and never from the front where I have visibility. Switching from lows with fogs to highs loses most of my side peripheral view slightly ahead of me. I want that 180 degree side lighting so I can see the deer or their reflective eyes incase they are coming. I'll gladly give up some of my long range viewing to see my side views at the same time. I use my fogs mainly for this and much less for actually fog use. After 5 deer hits (all to the sides of my vehicles) I want that side lighting on all the time. I'm hoping these DD fogs produce a wide degree of light if they haven't inserted them too far into the bumper.

Which is why a foglight option would have been nice when ordering just sayin'...definitely notice it in fog w only the LEDs...maybe covid messed up foglight options...

My ambers just arrived today. Can't wait to pull the bumper and install them. Great install video. Looks like a pretty easy install.

Can you provide an additional information about the included switch? Is it a 2 or 3 position rocker? are the wires for it essentially a positive, negative, and ground? I'm thinking of using a different switch instead of what they included.

My ambers arrived today. Got them mounted in the bumper. Tomorrow I'll wire them and put it back together.

They provide a single pole single throw (3 wire) with an LED for 12 volts. I'm wiring mine up tomorrow with a different switch. I'm guessing it's ground for the LED and 12 volts switched to trip a relay so ground-12Volts-12 volts return to the relay.
I'm not positive but that would be the way to make the LED in the switch work. I will be checking mine tomorrow after everything is wired as I'm planning on using a different switch also.

You are correct...and the switch carries very little current from what they told me so just about any switch ....even a small low current switch with a 1 amp would not be an issue.

What I didn't like in their specs is that the beam angle is only 100 degrees so that's not a lot of vertical side viewing light. I guess I'll have to wait and see how much side light they actually produce once installed but I know some fog beams have a 150 degree output. The bumper curvature may be the issue unless it is simply the design of their lamp housing if it is a universal lamp for different vehicles.

Yea but there has to be some reasoning for it even if it is a dumb reason.

Case in point...in NY a law was passed that trailer hitches on trucks are to be removed when there is no trailer in tow....law that cops do not really ever enforce. This law started because a politican was walking behind a truck at night and not paying attention to where she was. Hit hear leg on the hitch and that started her to create a law for submission.
