My Grandfather bought a lot of cars and trucks from Jack Byrne back in the day and always talked about what a great guy he was. I have heard nothing but awful things about this group that purchased that dealership which is a shame. And these mark ups don't help in making me want to ever give them a chance to have my business.
Luckily there are plenty of Ford Dealerships in the Capital District. I went to Morris and so far so good. I did X Plan and they had no problem with it. The salesperson at Marchese had such an attitude...like people are swarming to pay $3000 over sticker, he said I'm selling used vehicles for brand new prices.

There isn't going to be any change except adding and deleting colors and options, and increasing the price

2023 to 2024 price jump was pretty steep, lets hope they keep it in check

I really lucked out and found a hybrid on the lot at a near by dealer. Granted it was a custom order for another person but they decided not to take delivery and I ended up picking it up the same day I stopped by to check the Maverick out for the first time in person.
If you are persistent, it CAN be done. Got mine the same way.

He checked; there were no dealer stock Mavericks in the area. There was a prototype available but it had been through some rough treatment and Ford didn't consider it worthy of display. He mentioned that they have sold display vehicles in the past.
Interesting. There has been a Maverick on display at the Cleveland Auto show the past 3 years. Expect one to be there again this year. Maybe we are lucky because the 2.0 EB engine is built here?

Persistence is key. And being able to jump on one if a dealer finds one you want. I think it also helped that it was EOM and I told them I would take it off their books before EOM if they other guy didn't want it. One more sale in the month is always good.

Exactly! I got one that another purchaser had declined. Was the trim level and had accessories I wanted in Shadow Black. I would have ordered a different color, but hey, beggars can't be choosers. Coler has grown on me, but it still gets pretty dirty looking and I have to wash it regularly.

I got mine the same way. Original customer came in to pick it up on a Wednesday afternoon, wife hated the color (VB) and so they refused it. I bought it off the lot Thursday morning with no ADM or required extras.

I spent some time in the Ford booth at the Northeast Auto Expo today. The show itself wasn't all that much but I did get to have an interesting conversation with a Ford representative whose Ford name badge identified him as a Display Manager.

The first topic of conversation was the lack of a Maverick in the display area, since pretty much all other models were present. He told me he still can't get a Maverick for the shows unless a local dealer has a refused order on hand. So, some level of scarcity continues even at the corporate level.

The next thing we talked about was the upcoming refresh. It sounded like it's primarily a cosmetic refresh for strengthening the brand family appearance across the various truck models. However, he did seem optimistic that it could include AWD for the hybrid models. No definitive statement, of course, just an apparent optimism.

Finally, I mentioned my interest in any of the truck manufacturers producing a standard cab, longer-bed version of their small truck models. I expected him to say (as did the reps of other brands) "good luck with that". But he didn't. He told me that he gets that comment a lot and that "there's talk" about it at the corporate level. He also noted that, if such a thing were to happen, it would be unlikely to be a true standard cab and more likely to be an extended cab. He seemed to think that an extended cab version with a 5' bed is conceivable for both Maverick and Ranger. Again, it was a mostly speculative conversation but it was interesting that the idea wasn't met with immediate rejection. Hope springs eternal.
I like the cab and bed as they are. . . I wish that rep had been talking up a PHEV version though.

Consider how many of the old Rangers were sold with an extended cab or standard cab. There's a market there, but I agree it's not the primary market.

As a retiree whose kids are off on their own, I'd rather have more bed length than a perpetually empty back seat.

Jeep did a concept of this configuration based on the JL platform but never put it in production in spite of vocal demand from the Jeep community. Had they done so, I'd be driving one today because they would have beat Ford to the market. But there's no way I'd buy a Gladiator.

I would drive that!!

So, did you specifically ask about a Maverick ST or something with greater than 250 HP?

And if not... Why the hell not? 😂

I want to believe him, but there are so many times when I've heard people say "My dealership rep was telling me all of these details about this upcoming so and so model being released in a few years". Guys, they don't know, no-one knows what Ford's product plans are, except for Ford's high level employees, and those who do know, won't say, because if they do, they'd lose their careers, and be sued into the ground.

This Ford representatives basically exist to spout generic details about current product at auto shows, but they don't know what the future holds, neither do most dealership employees. He might out of dumb luck guess a few things that are coming, a broken clock is still right twice a day. He knows about ford product plans about as well as a teenager at the McDonald's counter knows about McDonald's 5 year product plan.

Most of the sites I'm on with insiders who hide their identity because they genuinely do know Ford's future product plans, have said there is no two door, long bed maverick. Keep in mind, this is the same source that accurately described the maverick's design, and the mach-es, and the bronco and bronco sport details months before anyone else, so they're a reputable source.

interesting, i applaud his optimism but doubt that Ford has ANY near term plans to add another body style to the Mav. the upfront costs in stamping equipment, dies and design work are enormous. plus the added complexity to the production process are hard to justify at this point in the model cycle life IMHO
