Recently took my Maverick into dealer for latest BCM turn signal recall.
I went to pickup my truck and none of my steering wheel controls worked including my cruise control.
About a year and a half ago I add dealer installed cruise control, they had to reprogram things at that time.
Recall set everything back to stock specks, not accounting for the cruise and the updated controls.
The dealer (the one where I got my Maverick and got the cruise control) Said they could get it taken care of in mid February or take to the dealer who dose the add on (about an hour away) .
I was not happy, this dealer should have all the info on my truck what the HELL!
So heads up if you get this recall and have any mods done to your computer!

is this the Forscan programming cruise control you are referring to?

I'm sure there is someone near you with FORScan that would be willing to help you out if you don't already have it. It can be done in a couple minutes.

Note to self: Back up my BCM configuration before going in for the recall. Thank you!

I would think a dealership would add cruise control to a '22 XL by using FRDS, not Forscan.

I have only used Forscan but I would be pretty certain that if a dealer needed to add a trailer brake controller, cruise control, or other things that were factory- or dealer-installed options FRDS can do it.

Still. OP's dealership really dropped the ball. They should have known his truck better, since they did the work.

The OP said the dealer who added cruise was an hours drive away and that he was told by the dealer who did the recall to take it back to them.

I'm surprised that a Ford dealer would add cruise that was not a Ford sold add on kit. Usually they don't like to do mods like that. The dealer who is closer to the OP probably turn down the cruise mod job and that's why the OP went to the dealer further away.

Maybe Tom's Truck can fill us in on this part of the story.

They had to get a hold of the dealer that installed the cruise control, I drove an hour out of my way to get this fixed ASAP. the guys at Fuller Ford in Cincinnati, Ohio took care of me!
Why couldn't the dealer where I got my Maverick take care of this? Maybe take my take my truck there and get me a loaner! After all it was a factory recall, and it was their fault! Well, it's done now, and I will be talking to service manager at my local dealer.

IYou don't need cruise control. That's why Ford didn't put it in your truck in the first place. You will get used to it.

Modern vehicles are not like Barbie's classic Corvette. They are rolling computers with thousands of sensors. A lot of the modifications that MTC members make will be over written when the truck computer is reflashed. It looks to me as is there will be a computer update every time the truck goes to the dealership.

Of course, the ONLY work the dealers are doing for me is the warranty work. I wouldn’t trust a dealer as far as I can throw them for anything further all non-warranty work is going to go either to me or an independent shop.

So after every update I will need to get out Forscan and back up that new bunch of changes after I change what I modified before I took it in. I wonder if they save a log of what was done so I can find it easier.

I would use my log to reprogram then save all changes for the next time. Hopefully not many of those will happen.
