Wonder why Ford didn't just put in one of those eyeballs that many other cars have. I also worry about getting the trans in neutral if electrical power is lost. I did love the hooks on the FX4 but that was about the only thing on that package I liked.

I am sure it was cheaper to just punch a hole in the frame and make the customer buy an expensive hook. After all at the beginning these started at $19,999

Okay, me again. Just had hitch installed at Torklift

While there talked to the welder, told him the problem with no hooks and the useless holes in front ..
He thinks he can attach a plate to the frame bolt it on then add hooks that will be low profile.
I will post pics.
Im going to talk to Ford though just to make sure doesn’t void my warranty in any way

Almost sounds like what this guy did on Bronco Sport.

I ordered the J hooks recommended by a couple others on this thread, and attached them to my tow strap. I think this will work just fine for an occasional tug when stuck in the snow in the alley or something similiar. (y)

I think it has been resolved. A document was posted from Ford for professional wrecker operators to use metal ends with samples shown. I purchased these from ebay, they fit nice and don't fall out easily. https://www.ebay.com/itm/164233277991

So do you have a link or anything for the posted document from Ford to the wrecker operators for the Maverick ???

I researched this myself and hated the design of those factory points. I'm going with axle straps. I mean the FWD literally pulls itself by those connection points only, so a pair of axle straps on front control arms should be about as solid as you'll get. Seems the choice of most recover agents of the car isnt better equipped.

In the rear go with the tow hitch.

Mind you in my FWD I'm not venturing too far from help. This would be for light issues. Stuck in the mud hauling stuff in the back yard. Maybe a slippery ice snow scenario etc.

Thanks for sharing the photos. Do you have a recommendation on a good shackle or recovery strap? I just ordered these - cheers!

No problem, mhw21zap! (y) I haven't used a shackle before, but am also curious as I am more concerned with equalizing the stress equally between both hooks with this unibody design. My previous truck(s) had beefy tow hooks where it wasn't as much of a concern.

My tow strap is nothing special. Just something you'd pick up at your local Fleet Farm.

A couple of gentlemen mentioned earlier in this thread about the stretchy tow straps that are designed for certain weight vehicles. Hopefully one of them will respond. Or look back and see what they recommended.

Good luck. :)

If that D ring slides (which it looks like it does), that would equalize the load between the two points. I wish I got that one instead of the 2 separate hooks. Here is a picture of what you posted for the future when the ebay link goes dead.
