One last vent/rage/question :
Given the hybrid aspect of these systems - is there a way to just let the engine run & idle so the alternator can give it a charge?

I try keeping it in Park, but it just goes back to hybrid/electric mode

There is no alternator on the hybrid. The 12v battery gets its charge from the HVB via the inverter. As long as you are in the "ready" mode, the 12v should be getting a charge. The ICE will start as needed to charge the HVB. Only jump and charge from the under hood points per manual.

This sucks. Fortunately, I carry cables and found someone to jump me.
But I had a back seat full of groceries and the baby seat to remove. Thankfully, no baby in the car. (And I got this so I could have a new, reliable car to haul our kid)

Now I have check engine lights displaying after getting home

You don't need to get under the back seat (unless you mean that's where you keep the cables). There is a positive jump post for the 12V battery under the hood - red cover below the fuse box. That's the way the owners manual recommends it be jumped.

^ That's where the cables are kept. Guess I'll need a jump pack that can fit in the glove box.
--On that note - I'm curious about recommendations for small jump packs (that don't need to be continually re-charged to keep up to snuff)

Did you receive this message on your phone "Remote features disabled to preserve battery" mine is dark when your open the door -no chimes or lights - but when i insert the key, it springs to life like it was just driven. I believe this was in a software update but not sure. mine has gone two weeks and started with no issues, i give the software some credit but who knows

Truck was parked in the garage last night - not heated but certainly not as cold as outside, let's say it was probably just above zero in the garage this morning. '23 XLT Hybrid (no Co Pilot) started fine and I drove up town, about a 10 minute drive. Thermometer on the dash said -14F. Parked the truck for about 45 minutes.

Got back in the truck, turned on the key to start/run. I got some red alert I'd never seen about pedestrian warning. In hindsight I should have taken a picture of the dash. It appeared the truck was on - said it was in electric driving mode. However.......truck would not shift out of Park. Foot on the brake and nothing.

I tried off and on several times, opening the door, lock/unlock and the result was the same.

After about 10 minutes I repeated the process, something clicked, the gas engine came on, and I could shift out of park and drive. A "check engine" light came on and I got a Service Engine Soon warning on my FordPass that says "the engine system has detected a fault".

I tried toggling through the dash settings to see if it would tell me anything but did not find a menu or area than told me any information.

I tried searching the forum when I got home but didn't find anyone who reported a situation like this. I'm guessing is has something to do with the brutal cold but who knows.

Has anyone else had a similar situation?
I had the exact same issue happen to me yesterday. I live in Minnesota and we had a below zero day. I keep my 23 XLT Hybrid (4k miles) parked outside and temp was -8F in the morning as we were going to church. I did a remote start that worked. By the time I got out there the truck had already been running 15 min and stopped, but it wouldnt start up again for me. All sorts of warning lights were going off, ICE wouldnt turn on, couldnt shift, parking brake turned on.
Took our other car to church and when we got home I was able to start up the Mav without any issues or warning lights. The only other time I've had an issue in the cold (outside of dead batteries) was with our 2013 Ford Flex, it was -20ish and one time we had a electric power steering fault at startup... it worked when it warmed up a bit and never happened again even though we have had colder temps since.

I drove my 2023 XLT Hybrid Luxury w/Co-Pilot last night after it had been parked for over 4 hours, and the temperature was reading -17 degrees F on the dash during my 30-mile drive. Even today, with the temperature at -12 degrees F, it drove without issues.

On a side note, I find the Hybrid performs well in the snow and on icy intersections if you are in L mode. In most cases, very little brake is needed, as L mode, much like my previous Chevy Volt, allows for one-pedal drive and does an excellent job of slowing the vehicle down if you need to come to a stop on ice.
Be careful with this, L mode does NOT light up the brake lights when decelerating!!!

Why did you mention, no co-pilot? Does it have something to do with that?

Mine's in an unheated garage. I leave a battery tender on it at night when it drops way below freezing.

Weak 12v batteries even after starting will create all sorts of issues in many cars. Regardless with brand new cars this should not be an issue.

Curious to see what fault is stored. FordPass might be able to give you some detail or at minimum head over to autozone and see what is stored.

WTF
There's a terminal under the hood for use in jump starting, so (1) you don't need to flip up the rear seat, and (2) so the battery current monitor will be able to monitor the activity. I understand this is important for proper management of 12V battery charging. It's in the manual.
