There are currently 23,075 total retail unscheduled orders as of 1/8/24.

Retail USOB: Is the current mix of retail orders in the unscheduled order bank (USOB) at the time the report was run. The report only looks at orders that are “clean”, meaning they do not have a compatibility error, material hold or on 99 priority code.

See the previous commodity report.

Ok, if I compare this report to the previous one, the number of unscheduled orders is going up by around 10%/month. The production line is not keeping up. When is Ford going to open up the underutilized Escape assembly line to produce Mavericks as well?

I had originally ordered a bare bones XL but the long wait times scared me. I found hybrid XLT Lux Pkg and while it cost more I'm glad I got with the Lux. Heated seats steering wheel are nice in the winter!

Assuming the Tremor difference is a rounding error, seems EB had a bigger jump this month. Looks like the upper trims are getting more orders.

Everything but XL and hybrid only have about two months of orders based on past scheduling trends (obligatory allocation caveat).

They should close XL ordering, and Hybrid ordering until they are caught up with those two.

No need for Ford to do that.

Ford will build current XL orders and future orders this year.

It will just take some time as Ford prioritizes XLT/Lariat orders.

Ford specifically stated that XL orders would be constrained even before the 2024 order banks opened.

I see no reason for the complaints on scheduling XLs as this information was published before the order banks opened and even dealers told customers to expect a long time from order to delivery on XL orders.

Only because there was no major scheduling for this period. Wait until March is scheduled and the number of unscheduled orders will be down by around 10,000.

Converting Louisville plant to make Mavericks would be a major undertaking and then you would have one plant under UAW and one plant not, making Mavericks. Guess which ones would be cheaper to produce.

You're giving dealers WAY too much credit 🤣. In late June / early July I was seeking advice on ordering an XL. Spoke with about 5 dealers in the Allentown, PA area and they all looked at me as if I was the expert when I mention allocations.

At best they'd offer to sell me one on their lot if they had one for $10k or more over MSRP or tell me they are happy to take my order but good luck.

Most when I talked about my order of an XL either agreed that simpler is better or just shrugged and said something like "your guess is as good as mine".

If Ford really wanted to clear this up they'd make the website reflect current state of affairs. I understand they can't control the dealers but only push down information. However, a large percentage of customers wind up doing virtual builds at some point in the process. They could a little logo on the XL that says "limited availability" or something similar if they don't want to share exact numbers. That would at least make people feel a little more informed about orders made.

It's really currently pretty bad at dealers, feels a lot like a lottery as a consumer.

Some 2022 Hybrid/XL orders still were not built, While 2024 new orders were. That would catch them up.

How do dealer allocations factor in now that the order bank is getting down to barebones? Does Ford stick to monthly dealer allocations and just fill any empty allocations with dealer orders or do allocations go out the door and Ford just fulfills customer orders before dealer orders?

Also, I’m not sure I understand why the ‘US Capacities’ on the ‘equipment groups’ don’t add up to at least 100%. I would understand if they represent maximum potential capacity and they add up to more than 100%. But what do those numbers represent if they can add up to less than 100%?

edit: By ‘equipment groups’ I mean XL, XLT, Lariat, and Tremor as those are the only trim options for the truck. One would think the sum of those would add up to 100% or more.

In a perfect world Ford would build all current 24’ xl hybrid orders but with the banks still open for them, some that are still waiting for 22’-23’ re-orders which unfortunately won’t get built in 24’. However, new xl hybrids ordered this month or the next will be built before building some of the roll overs. 👎🏼

Look more closely, it doesn't say XLT trim level. It says XLT Luxury package and Lariat Luxury package. The XL trim level is just artificially limited by Ford, the trim levels themselves aren't really constrained like other things on the list and the excess demand is clearly for the XL so the others just don't make the list, I guess.

I completely overlooked that, thanks for pointing it out. This makes more sense now.

Yes they add up to only 87% so 13% is missing?

All Lariats have the Lux package now, so 13% is non-lux XLT. Though that's not exact either - Tremor is availalbe on XLT or Lariat too and the Lux can be combined with that, so you can't really count that in.
