I received the dreaded "Stop Safely Now" message a few days ago and the truck would not move.

I scanned the truck hoping it might be something simple. At first glance it seemed to be. I had a code for the camshaft position sensor.
So I thought, maybe I just got a bad component, it happens, no big deal.

Got the truck towed to the dealer and they called me back a few days later. The technician says the engine is actually out of time, and that the circuit and sensor check out.
OUT OF TIME AT ONLY 7700 MILES??

For you that may not understand what I am saying, the motor has jumped timing somehow, the crankshaft and camshaft are no longer spinning in unison.

This does it for me. This truck will be sold once it is fixed.

NO MORE FORDS. Wait for months to get the thing, and only get to drive it about 6 months before a catastrophic failure like this?? Garbage.

I believe Maverick's use a timing chain (vs belt). It's unlikely that the truck has jumped timing. I would question the tech's troubleshooting skills, the position sensor, the sensor wiring, etc. before that mechanical failure (through anything is possible with any vehicle and any manufacturer).

And if you do sell and will never purchase another Ford product try Honda this time, I hear they're trouble free and are never recalled... 🤣

good luck....

This doesn't even sound possible.
Doesn't it have a timing chain?
Let us know what the real problem was please.

Seems to be a lot of quality control issues, my Mav is a 22 Ecoboost the only the issue i've had is the side curtain airbag recall. They should have the kinks worked out on later builds.

I suggest you go buy a Honda so your transmission can fail in under a 1000.
Get the point?
Want me to list all the major failures for all the other brands?

Sounds like you need a bicycle for commuting.

If it's a manufactured product, there will be defects- Yes even Honda and Toyota.

I owned a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L with 7k miles, and a rocker arm started ticking, requiring replacement. A $50k vehicle with engine issues at 7K. All vehicles post-pandemic seem problematic, including Honda. Even Kia's face theft issues due to TikTok videos. At what price point do you think your problems go away?

Has nothing to do with price point. Search YouTube for videos of the fit and finish of multimillion dollar supercars.

Lol Hondas are eons ahead of Ford. All automakers have issues but there is no comparison. Having owned Chevys Ford's Toyotas and Mopar. If Honda made a small truck I would jump on it.

Eons ahead? LOL..... Go to the Honda Forum and tell that to the 2.5M Honda owners now dealing with their latest recalls....

Happy that your Hybrid is not bricked yet like the op and many others on this forum.

Absolutely, it's a nuanced decision. Regardless of the price point, each vehicle may have its own set of issues. It's about finding the right balance between features, reliability, and personal preferences.

So Bob, tell us all EXACTLY how many Mavericks have been reported on this site with 'jumped timing"..... What is the EXACT number of reports (irrespective of whether that is the true failure)?

Hondas from my experience have been MUCH less reliable than Ford's. As in our ford's last well over a decade, and our Honda blew a motor after two days, and ever Honda I've seen is a clusterF in terms of issues.
