I’ve tried disabling using the factory manual method probably 100 times with no success. I have a 24 lariat and had the same problem as many others where I would turn on the ignition but the red seatbelt would not turn off no matter how long I waitedI finally got it to work and here’s how.

I followed the process from the manual with these adjustments:

1: Don’t engage parking brake.
2: Don’t wait a minute for the red seatbelt light to turn off. Only wait to see the annoying seatbelt reminder on the center screen pop up which only takes a second or two and immediately buckle. Wait to see the pop up with the green driver’s seat. Once you see the green seat you’re clear to unbuckle. Wait to see the pop up with the red seat and repeat 3 more times for a TOTAL OF 4 BUCKLING CYCLES. The manual says 3 but 4 is what worked for me. After 4 total cycles you’ll see the red seatbelt light in the speedometer blink 3 times. That’s your indication that it worked. There’s no extra buckle cycle after the initial set like the manual says there is.

As a reminder, this WILL NOT get rid of the annoying pop up message, but it will disable the chime when you’re unbuckled.

If you want me to make a video showing exactly how I did it let me know and I’ll upload something to YouTube.

Nice Job TBD. Hopefully you can post a video. Thanks for the insight! I assume this is the same procedure for the XLT EB?

I assume it’ll work for whatever trims that people are having the issue of the seatbelt light not turning off after a minute. Seems to be a pretty common problem around here. I’m not sure exactly which trims this happens on but if you’ve tried and had that problem I’m pretty sure it’ll work for you.

Just got mine to work, 2023 Hybrid. Followed the steps mentioned in another post:
Set E-brake
Turn on vehicle (not engine) - note: I actually did turn on my vehicle by accident and it still worked.
wait like 2-5 seconds.
Slowly connect and disconnect the seat belt watching that the seat belt light turns on and off.
Slowly continue this process until the seat belt light begins to flash.

You definitely need to watch the seatbelt picture and coordinate your buckling/unbuckling to that diagram.

If I recall, they made changes after the 2022’s.
The procedure in the manual worked for my 2022 hybrid Lariat.

Mine also does not have the pop-up seat belt reminder like the 2023's and 2024s have.

Finally!! This worked! Been trying to disable the chim on my 2022 XL since I got it in April 2022. I always buckle up when driving as I developed that habit while stationed in Germany. Over there you would lose driving privilege for 1 month if you were caught leaving or coming back to the Kaserne without it on. However sometimes out here in the sticks/on the farm I don't really need it on.

I got lucky. I was trying some things and the annoying chime stopped working by itself. (I think)

Can you use the same procedure to disable the chime on the passenger seats?
