Howdy! Unusual circumstance here for a maverick! Bit my maverick arrived yesterday and I’m out of town for Thanksgiving for the weekend, how long will the dealer hold a maverick for you before I come pick up and buy it? Not sure if they are able to just sell it cause I’m not there to pick it up or how it works.

Whatever you do, do not ask the Dealer....

It’s only a few days. I would think you can make arrangements with them. Selling your vehicle on thanksgiving weekend because you are not there at the drop of a hat would be a new low. Make em famous if that happens.

Would imagine different dealers policy can vary. Explain situation to your sales Manger and see what they say. Surely a few business days shouldn't be a problem. Some are stingy and floorplan interest adds up on the penny pinchers

If you start the paperwork remotely/electronically (usually via a company like DocuSign), then they can get it on the books as sold by the end of the month, which is what they are going to care about.

Have they called you to let you know that it has arrived? Did you explain you are out of town? Did you make arrangements for them to hold it?
They called me, I told them I was out of town for Thansgiving and will be back to pick up next monday. Salesmen is good and says its no problem hell have it ready for me. Still have an eerie feeling cause of Black Friday and havent been a fan of their management team. Dont want them to swing somethin.

Yeah I asked if they could add a spray in bedliner at the dealer when it was in shipping, so I just resigned a "Internal sales Worksheet" virtually for them with that added price.

If they’re an ethical dealer you’ll be fine. If not…. As an another poster stated, be sure to call them out and let everyone know about it,

It depends on the dealer. Whatever you do, don't trust them to hold it. Contact them by email and telephone calls or texts. If they need a deposit, give them a card number.

Dealers, I swear!!! 🤬🤬 Their own worst enemies! They do this stuff to themselves! If they don't hold it, I would like their butt up on every form of social media. Now hopefully your salesperson is stand up and holds to his word and doesn't get pushed aside by his management. I NEVER, in 23 years of Ford sales, sold someone's factory order because they couldn't take it based on logistics of not being around, being out of town, medical emergency, you name it. Heck I got a doozy of a story.

Had a client order his 2014 Shelby GT500. 1 of only 2 allocations we got for 2014 MY (We also had 2 for the '13 MY which I had already sold prior to July 2012. He called my cell (I had it posted on a Mustang forum that I was selling the 662hp GT500 AT MSRP, so if anyone wanted one to contact me ASAP with a deposit and they would have a car).

I was actually out on worker's comp due to being in a bad accident while on my way to a customer's house in my dealer demo. I had a BAD concussion, so I told him, if he didn't mind, to contact me when I got back in a week (that's a story for a whole other time 🤬). He did, and I told him I had no more 2013s left but I had 2 2014s. He said no worries, the longer the wait the better to get his $$$. He mailed me a $1,000 check, I wrote up a purchase order, mailed it to him to sign, and he sent it back.

The car was NOT going to be build until late spring 2014 at the earliest due to the car having summer tires (Ford was getting reports of cars sitting in cold climates of cold cracks in tires, so they moved allocations around based on geographics). My Ford rep told me this. She assured it wasn't getting built, well guess what. It was gonna show up around November 2013! 🤦🏻‍♂️ And my customer wasn't ready for it. Not till May at the earliest. Well. I made DAMN SURE it wasn't going anywhere. We stored it, in a spare garage we had, covered with it's car cover AND a tarp (to keep the cover clean) and he sent us money periodically to put towards it to show my boss he wanted it.

Well, April comes and he picks it up. At MSRP no problem at all. Super happy as am I. Then I see my pay statement. They took out the floorplan cost they had to pay for the several months it was there out of the gross of the car (which back then only has about $3,200 from MSRP to Invoice). To say I was pissed is an understatement! 🤬🤬 But the moral, there is ZERO reasons why a dealer would sell a retail ordered vehicle out of under them due to being away for a holiday. If they do, they deserve EVERY OUNCE of bad press that's coming to them.

Oh, and the GT500 customer wound up ordering a 2019 GT350 from me as well and were good friends. I may talk to him about a job once I'm healthy enough (I have SEVERE Crohn's) to go back to work (wherever that may be) at his company he's the VP & CFO of. 🙏

My dealer gave me 30 minutes to bring a check, or he’d sell it to someone else.

Put money down on it over the phone. Get a Receipt by fax or email. Sign whatever you can by fax or email.
I bought from Colorado and picked up in California one time so it can be done.
Best of luck. Probably you are ok.
