My seldom-used Isuzu box truck is stranded tonight with a dead battery & I dont have the necessary tools to pull/change the battery.

I don’t know the first thing about electronics…. And i don’t have my owners manual with me (I know…. I know).

Can my factory 400W backseat plug be used to power this battery charger? I have a 2023 Hybrid XL.

If so, should my Mav be on or off during the charging?

Thanks so much in advance for the help!!

Watts is Volts * Amps. 120V * 10A = 1200W. The Inverter in the Maverick can only do a little over 3A..

The charger won't pull 10A all the time but I suspect when you put the charger on a dead battery it pulls a lot of amps.

I'd be surprised if it works.

No. It's 400w max (in theory). In reality, because it's complete garbage, it chokes long before that.

No that will not work. What you need is a set of jumper cables. Just jump start it with your truck. Just make sure the gas engine is running, perhaps by having the heat on full or something. Not sure how the hybrid motor works. A trickle charger could possibly run off the inverter but would take a very long time and would be smarter to just jump start it with jumper cables.

Whenever in doubt, look at the power consumption on the device you want to use on the inverter. If it's even near 400 watts, fuggedaboutit.

Nope,I was excited that my mav came with the inverter, not so much when I realized it hardly powers anything.

On the 2 amp setting yes, but it will take a full day.

...however, if you have all day and all night you could set the charger pictured to the trickle setting that shows it uses 2 amps...

About the best use I have found for the outlet is to power the charger for my Milwaukee 18v & 24v power tools. At 400 watts it won't power a blender for tailgate parties. It will power my LED work lights.

There are jump points under the hood of the Hybrid Mav. Just use jump cables!
And be patient when you boost/jump start. The cables and clamps aren’t designed to start a dead battery vehicle, they’re designed to quickly charge the dead battery. Hook up and run the engine for 15 minutes. Then both batteries together will start the dead vehicle.

Additionally, the dead battery is siphoning off the power you’re trying to use to start the dead vehicle. If you let it charge you’re much more likely to succeed.

At the 12V and 15A setting, the charger is only putting out 12 x 15 = 180 W. The power from the outlet would need to be just a bit more than that. I don't have any experience with the Mav's outlet, but I would assume that it could handle at least 200 W. So you could use that setting, but not the 50A setting which would require 600 W.

Also -- I haven't read the Mav's manual, but the jump points on my Prius were only for charging the Prius -- NOT for charging other cars. The little 12V battery in hybrids is often too small to jump other cars.
