For sure. Doing the work after you get it will preserve it. Aside from being the Maverick man, I am also a AMC Eagle guy. Eagles were one of the earliest adopters of "tough looking" black plastic. Having dealt with a few of em, I can tell ya they all rusted under the plastic. Recently I saw a 3 year old Transit van that had it's plastic damaged and removed. Every mounting hole had rust starting in on it. I know for sure at the first sign of visible rust, I am gonna yank all the plastic and take it to the body shop.
Don't forget to remove the front fender wells as well. Easy and quick. We removed the wheels to get to other areas as well but do not need to. We used lots of Fluid Film Black up in there. Easy to do and with the right tool most of the fasteners were undamaged. I think the POR 15 is going to make those mounting holes resist rust longer. We used that in areas where the plastic came in contact with the metal as well as a few other places. Just brushed it on. All hidden and covered with FF.

If it has a manual transmission, I’m in.

Auto makers always play the deception game when it comes to new models coming out. Hard to say what will make it to the assembly line but IMO they would not have test mules on the track and streets to just have an ST line appearance. I think the most interesting thing about these most recent pictures is the a pillar gauge cluster. Looks like they are keeping and eye on something new under the hood if those are real. Who's to say though?

I'm really curious to see what the MSRP is. If they're really shoehorning a turbo 2.3L in there, they'll have to upgrade everything to handle it. Maybe a base trim of XLT and a base MSRP of $35K? That's a total WAG, and I can't wait to see the actual price and content. The whole idea of derivatives is profit, so they won't be giving it away.

I feel like my ecoboost is already a little pocket rocket. Can't imagine what a higher HP version will be like, but I bet it'll be fun.

the 2021 Lincoln Corsair already had a 2.3 ecoboost with both FWD and AWD available in the 8F35 transmission, so it definitely exists. it is rated at 295hp / 310lbft. (the corsair did move away from that engine and now uses the same 2.0 the Maverick does, but I think that's due to cost and extremely low sales volume for the Corsair.)

others have commented but there has been so much offtopic random crap in this thread that it might have been lost, and I think is worth repeating.

this might not be a ST. it doesn't have flares or wide wheels & tires and it does not look lowered. it could be just a trim level above lariat, or an option for lariat. it could be called platinum, titanium, sport performance, whatever. what we see for sure is 360 cameras & forward parking sensors, 19" wheels and tires, and a new muffler tip. that's it.

very good breakdown of the spy photo's .
its always astonishing to me how much info can be gleaned from just a few pictures !!
this Lobo may really excite the Ecoboost crowd and if i was a performance orientated buyer i would be really happy about this variant of our beloved little truck. good on Ford for hooking up all the off road & performance folks. and i mean that sincerely,
but i am waiting for the MY 25 'refresh' , really hoping for a all wheel hybrid powertrain B4 i get all hot and bothered. after all i already own a '23 Lariat that grows on me more every day so can afford to be patient.

Maybe trying to get closer to the F150 trims.

XL, √ XLT, √ Lariat, √ Tremor, Platinum? I wouldn't expect a Maverick Platinum unless they redo the entire interior or really upscale it.

Know we only need the leaks for the Maverick Raptor with the bed mounted 3.5L Twin Turbo EcoBoost for Baja racing in the Home Depot parking lot!
Maverick could use a premium interior version. The Lariat vinyl just doesn't do it for me.

It is a very straightforward parts bin, bolt-in affair. The block is nearly identical. Tremors already have the axle shafts upgraded, and Lincoln has the proper transmissions. It's probably only going to be a 30-40 hp upgrade, very decent but basically what you would get from a tune. Still would be awesome especially if they dug deeper into the bin and added paddle shifters. Aside from emissions certifications, it would be a cheap upgrade for them. I would guess it would be $1000 over the Tremor cost.

I think it has wider stance . Or maybe it’s just the tires

So the 2.7 is probably not possible without major modifications since it's a v-6 but the 2.3 should be fine.

The interesting part is how much power you can wring out of it. The 2.3 was used in an italian sports car where they managed to get almost 400hp and 400 ft-lb of torque out of it.

Now, the mav is a fairly light vehicle and despite having the aerodynamics of a brick, as we all know from the F-4 Phantom jet, if you strap big enough engines to it even a brick can fly.

A 400 hp engine would give insane levels of power to weight.

At 250hp and 3674lb curb weight the stock eco mav has 0.0678 hp/lb - not bad.

At 450 hp (v6 ecoboost version) and curb weight of 5697 (crew cab to be fair - there is no 2 door mav) the raptor has 0.079 hp/lb - which is great. (the v-8 predator version has 700hp and roughly 0.123 hp/lb which is insane, but we knew that,)

A 400 hp mav would have 0.109 hp/lb (using existing curb weights) which is also insane. This would blow the doors off of almost everything including the v-6 f-150 raptor.

IMO it's much more likely to see it produce around 350 hp like it did on the focus RS. (unless ford pussies out) which gives 0.095 hp/lb, still better than the v-6 f-150 raptor.

Come on, Ford, do the right thing. Make the maverick the greatest pocket rocket truck the world has ever seen. :D😂

I doubt Ford will actually go for the full 350hp, but if they give us everything but the tune and the exhaust to do it and keep it around 310-315 HP. We will be happy to drive it like that and eventually finish the formula and wring it on up to 400. Even at 315 horses it will probably be one of the top 5 or so fastest trucks running IC.

the Bronco 2.3 has a much more 'truckish' power delivery than the Ford RS 2.3 with more low-end torque. it (the Bronco) with the Ford performance calibration makes 330hp on 91 octane. so that, to me, is the high water mark for a Maverick ST. it probably is going to be in the range of 300-330hp.

That exhaust tip is just a standard prototype tip. It's for connecting the exhaust outside a building so they can run them indoors.

That’s correct, also used for transient emissions testing on a chassis dyno.

Speaking of exhaust if did anyone also see the BS test vehicle? It had dual protoype exhaust tips. That's a first for BS. Could be a sign of the 2.3 showing up there, if they get it we better as well.
