Does anyone have any suggestions for good auto cross HP tires for the Lobo. I curious if anyone has any size make or model suggestions. I was looking at 18’ tire, very common auto cross tire many options.

did you really mean 18" wheels, and not tires for the stock 19s?

Yeah 18” rubber, I don’t think the 19” will be ideal for auto cross. Putting it out there for the feed back.

it's actually the opposite because the Maverick uses a tall, skinny tire. (imagine that.. it's a truck...)

there are very, very few suitable summer tires that fit a Maverick on an 18" wheel. I installed one of them last year: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...ct3-tires-installed-on-stock-18-wheels.48656/

there was like 3 tires on my list, all 255/55-18, and I chose that one based on ratings and cost.

conversely take a look at all the summer tires you can get in 245/50-19 or 255/45-19.

I have seen reports the stock tire set up with 19”. Have not been the most ideal for auto cross. So do you get better 19” tires or a second set of 19” or 18” for track only. My wife’s 2024 Mustang High Performance pack came with summer tires on it. I had to get her a second set of rims and tires. Due to the fact we live in the northeast.

I bought a second set of wheels and all terrain tires with 3pms rating for winter but I'm probably going to run them until I need the 18s for autocross.

you could just autocross the factory tires until they're dead, rather than swap them immediately for summer tires.

Falken RT660 is what I used for AutoX with my Fit. My friends also use those on their Subarus and Miatas. It’s a great tire if you can find it in your desired size.

If you haven't watched Ford's Lobo autocross videos you should. They used the factory tires and it did ok, but I wouldn't expect to be competitive in a solo2 stock class with them.

Speaking of which, I see that the Maverick Lobo is not yet assigned a stock class. This is critical because the rulebook is probably going to exclude it due to the height vs width rule used for unclassed vehicles, and that rule specifically says it's intended to exclude taller vehicles prone to rollovers like trucks and SUVs.

You'll meet the rule barely with a Maverick lowered on eibach springs but then it's no longer stock class. I'd probably check with your local region to make sure you can run your Lobo before buying anything. If you show up on stock wheels & tires and are told no, you can lower it. (Maybe buy a set of Focus ST or RS wheels and tires? That would drop like 2" ride height immediately, lol.)

Came in here to suggest the same as @colinl already did.

Best bet is likely a set of lightweight 18x8-8.5 and 245-255 R50 stickies.

Bridgestone RE-71RS in 245 45 18 is about as good as you'll reasonably get off the top of my head. But as mentioned, you'll be 2" lower just from the sidewall decrease and would for-sure want to be lowered on springs at worse, coils at best.

I'm not sure how the Maverick handles that on the software side (errors, codes etc.) but for AX the higher effective gear ratio will allow for faster acceleration which isn't a bad thing.

Interested in a lightweight 18 or 17 with summer performance tires for daily driving
you will not find 17s unless you have coilovers and very short (like focus sized) tires in the range of 27" tall.. there are no summer tires in anything near 29" diameter on a 17" rim. it's a truck and SUV tire size and sporty SUVs have bigger rims and wider tires.

as I mentioned a few replies back if you go with a 255/55-18 you have like 3 summer tires to pick from... maybe 5. I run one of them, I looked extensively 2 years ago.

Well that sucks. Thank you for your research. Let's hope the OEM tire is as good as Ford says it is, for daily.
