What if the 7.3 could fit. Godzilla yes pls. Since we're all in fantasy land
Or they could just shoehorn the 6.7 Powerstroke, make it a dually and give it a 15,000# tow rating. Nothing above 2.5 liters will find its way into the Maverick for the next 3 years, if ever going forward.

We just caught a new Ford Maverick variant, showing signs of the upcoming performance street truck trim widely expected to join the Maverick lineup.

Ford has trademarked the Maverick Lobo name, and it may point to this interesting new prototype, caught testing in Dearborn. The heavy front-end camo appears to hide a more aggressive front-fascia, with a lowered, muscled stance. The prototype is fitted with new, larger 19-inch wheels, mounted to 225/55R19 Goodyear Wrangler Territory HT tires, showing its new focus on street performance. 18-inch wheels and tires are currently the largest rollers available on the Maverick.

The prototype appears to have a single exhaust exiting from the left side of the rear bumper, and showcases the independent rear suspension setup of the AWD Maverick, which should enable proper traction if more power is on tap. It appears that there are visual signs of an intercooler in the front bumpers lower air-intake suggesting a more potent turbocharged powerplant.

When a cummins gets shoehorned into a Lambo anything is possible, lol.

Looks like the 2025 MCE. Tires are too narrow for any real performance duty.
With the torque management on these trucks the 225s provide enough traction to run deep into the 12s.

Those are Wranglers. Not exactly a performance tire.

iRS dually now we're talking!!

Really I think if anything, the engine options will split. Keep the hybrid the same but add AWD, and have a performance and lux tied oriented 2.3, and add the 1.5 as the base motor on XL and XLT(non lux/Tremor/etc).

I also think if there is a transmission change it will come with a higher tow rating.

The stock Continentals aren’t either.
I also didn’t have any traction issues on my Nokian Outpost APTs.
Well since the Maverick is not a performance vehicle, they don't need to be until you up the power considerably. I changed my Mustang from 460HP to over 1,000HP. Not many tires will hold it from a dig, so I splurged for ones that will. A quick built all out Maverick might equal a stock Mustang 5.0. It's all perspective. I see no reason to try to make a Maverick quick. Though if Ford were to sell a 2.3 ST version, I'm sure it would sell well. And might actually be worth making quicker.

I think the Hybrid will stay FWD. When PHEV comes out, that will be AWD. With a bigger battery an extra motor for the rear makes sense.

Did anyone catch the name on the back? Bowser! The Mario cart cartoon graphic? betting its a 2.3 with a hair dryer. 300HP would be great.

I saw an ST the other day. It was lowered with nice wheels, Brembo brakes, Big Front mount intercooler, and a side exit exhaust. It even had 2.3 badges on it and sounded like it had a bigger turbo. I peeks inside and it had a digital speedometer and a flat bottom steering wheel. It even had a gauge pod suggesting it’s a high performance version. I took some pictures with my potato phone so hopefully you guys get an idea of what it looks like.

Sports trucks aren't really my thing (from a functional standpoint, just a poor foundation for a performance street vehicle), but your Maverick is bad a$$.
