I think that it’s going to come down to this:
One can live with great mileage and more DS/BS (Deep Sleep/Battery Saver)notifications………or convince Ford to change the charging mode to keep the ICE running more, in order to decrease these notifications.
Personally, I’ll take things as they are. I like the better MPGs.
AS LONG AS……(mũi importante!) the battery, although a bit drawn down, continues to allow me to drive when I want to. (I’ll still be carrying my charger set with me. Just CMA!)

Engine running more should have nothing to do with this.

Just finished long journey, 650 miles 2 days in a row and overnight when parked the charge went up about 5 or 6%. Ultimately peaked at 84% State of Charge but within 2 days of unused garage parking had dropped to mid 50s. Ford Pass went wonky on me several weeks ago and I deleted it so no longer get DS messages., but truck has never had a dead battery and has always started.

It's a big issue and it's far more than just the Mavericks. It's plagues the Escapes/Bronco's as well. I've even heard of it being issues on F150's? Not sure if that's true or not.

It may not be an issue causing a dead battery immediately folks, but the issue is that it will drain your battery faster than it should.

One reason a battery drains faster than it should is because it is becoming more sulphated and has reduced capacity at full voltage. There are fewer amps stored until the sulphates are removed. With all the modern battery uses in any vehicle these days this problem will continue. One solution would be two batteries which would allow one to be power the vehicle for 6-8 weeks while the other one is on a good maintainer and desulfated and rested at full charge then the two batteries could be reversed automatically.

I’m still trying to figure out how more ICE equals more 12 volt charging when the high voltage battery is what is charging the 12 volt battery.

Battery A charges battery B.
Only one way for battery A to get charged. By running the ICE.
Is there something that I’m missing here?

I don’t know about “automatically”.
But one could swap them out from under the back seat to a bench in the garage, shop, or wherever.

The HVB charges the 12 volt battery by only being in the ready state without the ICE even running. The HVB charges when vehicle is coasting to a stop and agin the ICE is not required for that to happen either.

I don’t know about “automatically”.
But one could swap them out from under the back seat to a bench in the garage, shop, or wherever.
Interesting thought.

The swap out could be most likely extended to 10-12 weeks would just have to be an experience thing as it's almost impossible to get a resting voltage reading. Maybe a CCA reading???? New=470 & swap at 440 or ?. Would be nice to have onboard automatic backup though. Some engineer would ape over more pop ups and relays!

I went out and added air to my tires today.

I did not open the doors, turn a key, use the key fob, start the vehicle or run the vehicle.

Within a few minutes the Ford Pass App updated the new pressures. That alone is consuming some 12v power.

So it’s a summer day. Hot. My bride and I are out doing errands, both mine and hers. AC is running, keeping us comfortable.
She goes in, I wait in the Mav. ICE is not running, but the AC is.
Time passes……..
More time passes………..(been there?)
AC is still running……….on battery.
But the battery is being depleted.
So…………
The ICE comes on. Runs for 2 or 3 minutes. Shuts down.
AC keeps keeping on for another 10 minutes. Till…….
The ICE comes on again.
The process repeats as long as the fuel holds out.

The ICE is charging the battery.

Yes ICE will charge the HV battery if that battery needs it, as in the situation you describe. That said how does that affect the charge of the 12 volt? ICE is still not charging it, the HV is still responsible for the 12 volt.

You are trying to make the case that people who use the ICE much more than others in their daily driving will have less issues with 12 volt battery. The only way that could be true is if the driver who is using their HVB more and getting better mpg is running their HVB so low in the process that it won’t keep up with the charging of the 12 volt. I can’t believe that could be the case.

Thats why my notifications stopped after a 1000mi road trip (at relatively lousy mileage). Lots of charging time to get everything up to snuff.
A few weeks afterward, having returned to lots of backroad driving, with MPGs climbing, the notifications have started again.
I don’t like it; but I’ll take it. Love those 700 miles/tank, without getting down to the tank-bottom grit.
Ford could cure it. But only at the cost of some MPGs.

Well so far I’ve had zero messages or deep sleeps and have yet to take a road trip with my Maverick. Don’t think I’ve driven over maybe 30 miles in a single day since I got it in July.
