So I got my Maverick back in July and love it so far. However, I did not notice how large the gap is between the windshield and the hood. I live in the north and leaves are falling and there will be snow and this is going to be a pain to keep clean.

Is there any type of cap or filler for this? I know it needs to let air flow through, but I’d like to keep the leaves and snow from piling up there.

DUCT TAPE and concrete will do nicely.

I don't believe there is anything out to fill the gap at this point. Your fears are correct it does fill up with leaves and snow. It's a pain to clean out unfortunately, all you can do with snow is make sure you put the wipers in the service position (turn on and turn the truck off with them still up) and pull them up away from the window before snowfall. At least it makes cleaning it out easier.
As far as the windshield wipers go, I cut a pool noodle into about 10 inch lengths and slide them over the wiper blades. Keeps tham from freezing to the glass, vwery easy to install and remove, and one noodle will do more than you need. Check out your local Dollar store.

Lux package with heated wiper parks takes care of that. Not an issue for me.

Someone needs to invent a cover that just covers the gap but still allows the wipers to work. I know it is likely not possible.

After going through one winter not sure how effective that is. Retired so not in a hurry to to get the snow and ice off. To bad that's not available in later models.

Oh yea, they dropped that for '24 didn't they.....so glad my '23 (22 rollover) was actually built, so I have those items, and at about the original '22 pricing. - My Subaru had the heated park area, it actually does help keep the wipers from getting frozen over.

On the down side, the windshield replacement is more expensive, but hey, it's a Lariat with the 'Sound-Shield' windshield is is more expensive to begin with, and I have $50 Glass on the auto coverage, so not too bad.

It works for frost and light snow. Not so useful when you get 14+ inches. :ROFLMAO:

Been mild winters here in NW NJ the last couple years. I live next to a 600 acre lake 50 feet deep. Did not even freeze last year. Typically this is the coldest part of NJ.

Yeah we had two winters like that 2015-2016. I almost forgot what winter was when it was 75°F on the first of February. For reference usually we get the most snow in February.

I think pretty much every car I'veever had -- more than a dozen over 30+ years -- has had a gap between the hood and windshield. And yes, stuff falls in there. Never considered it "an issue", though...

A wet windshield is no problem. A couple drops freeze sure. But they don't stop you from removing the cover. I know from experience. It might sound a bit like velcro, but that is about it! Mine has a very slick/shiny waterproof rear, so the ice doesn't have much to "grab" onto. Glass is not a good surface for ice to adhere to either, so it takes very little effort to separate the two.
But to each their own. This solution works well to block off the giant hole between the hood and glass, that is for sure.

you could not be farther off the mark, I lived/worked in the Kent/Renton area and what you get for winter is nothing, 1 inch of snow paralyzes the area, I remember 4 wheel drive vehicles sliding off the road.

Don't punch the slightly blue panels though - they are made up of the cheapest plastic in automotive history and will shatter into millions of pieces.....
