Trying to find out what’s the best fuel to use in my Maverick with 2.0 EcoBoost/AWD that will yield the cheapest cost per mile for commuting back and forth to work. My commutes 31-34 miles one-way depending on which route I take and it’s roughly 18 miles highway and the rest rural and urban mix. For the longest time I’ve been running regular (87 octane) from BJ’s wholesale club and getting about 24.5-24.8 mpg at the pump each week. Recently I’ve been tapping a Shell down the road with some nitro 93 and I’m getting a smokin 29-30mpg average at the pump. It’s at a much higher cost per gallon but man doesn’t my truck love it. I did try BJ’s premium which yielded roughly 25-26 average mpg’s at the pump. I’ve noticed with BJs gas, my engine’s rather noisy. Turns out they don’t have any detergents in their fuels, hence why they can sell so cheap. Anyone found the fuel that yields the best mpg’s at the lowest cost per mile? I’m thinking about trying the lower end Shell and Irving fuels again because those have detergent and are also a good bit cheaper than Nitro 93.
