They said since it is powertrain, it should be covered under warranty. But until they complete the repair and I see the Zero invoice, I will be skeptical. They initially said it was a $190 charge to diagnose and could take 24-48 hours!
SO sorry! Hopefully it's on their dime , should be. Please keep us posted on the end result.

Curious if you tow with your maverick, and if so how often and how much you are towing?
I pulled my 1800 lb teardrop a couple of times, probably less than a mile total. I had planned on more originally, but that changed. I've also not been offroading or anything crazy, a couple of times on mostly hard packed sand. So you can say the AWD system has had light use.

FL and CA state law requires dealers to be licensed with the state and follow state regulations when selling extended warranties in their state. Granger Ford (Iowa), Flood (RI), Zeigler (MI), etc all are legit Ford dealers dealers outside those states which sell discounted legit Ford Protect ESPs online, but to sell in those states, they would need to still follow those regulations.

The (unofficial) workaround is to buy an ESP from one of those dealers but use an address in another state. Good examples would be if you have relatives in an eligible state. You'd still use your billing address, of course.

You do not have to buy an ESP when you buy the vehicle, you can buy it later. An ESP can be purchased at any time under the 3 year/36,000 mi bumper to bumper warranty. Technically there may be a grace period up to 41,000 mi/41 months.

Pricing does go up a bit after 12 months/12,000 miles, as well as annual price increases.

TLDR: You can buy it up to 36 months/36,000 miles (maybe a bit longer). ESP starts on in-service date and 0 miles no matter when you buy it. Sooner you buy, the less you pay. Can buy from discount online dealers but need to supply an address outside CA/FL.
Thanks! I learn so much from this group 🤓 Does my Maverick need to be registered in the other state also? I just paid my annual registration 😖

Nope, state of registration has no impact on the ESP.

What if I live in Florida, but bought the vehicle in Wisconsin? Could I buy it from Grainger in this case? Purchased April 21, and have 2,500 miles on it.

You would need to use an address from out of the state of Florida to purchase the contract from Grainger. I probably should have done that, but I did not.

This is one of those posts that makes me think getting a warranty is a good idea before I can't buy one for my 23 Hybrid.
I agree I have never purchased a extended warranty driving over 50 years, I usually keep a vehicle 4/5 years, I have a 22 XLT FX4 LUX 4k tow am worried about the turbo, transmission, axles, carbon buildup, etc, etc, the stories are starting to come to light about the guys putting higher mileage on and the problems their having and it worries me. Only have 8k miles, have to make a disision
Before the warranty is up. I don't want to hear my buddy's in 3/4 years say you bought one of those shit boxes after being in the car business for 40 years.

Not sure what you mean? My FL dealer did a hard sell on me for an extended warranty which I did not buy. Does that mean I can’t get one now (2500 miles)?
I have been getting e-mails from Ford saying that I can still get the ESP extended warranty until I reach 3 Yr. or 36K miles.

Remember my friends, the Maverick is not designed to be a ‘work truck’
Wrong, it's designed for "light work". Staying within the manufacturer guidance "should" be fine as they have some overhead on most of the numbers listed.

Exactly, I don't think carrying my kayak to the park, bringing a ladder to a friends house, moving some household furniture, even the beach trip is outside any guidelines!

I did not get the ESP but have extended coverage of a sort...Geico is my insurer and they provide mechanical breakdown insurance as part of my policy. It runs me $67 a year and has a $100 deductible while the vehicle is under the original warranty and has a failure not covered by the warranty. After that, it's a $250 deductible up until 7 years/100,000 miles. Will they pay out when push comes to shove? I don't know, but they've provided good service on claims for me for years. Less than $500 for 7 years of coverage seems pretty good to me and I can live with a $250 deductible.

Wait until your current warranty expires.

Had an annoying occurrence today as well. was at a stop light with my left arm/hand resting down by the window bottoms. Felt something sharp and realized the silver lining on the right rear window switch was peeling. WTF? Annoying quality issue.
Mine did that too on RF switch. I’ll address it when I have the oil changed.
