Now, granted, I'm moving from a 2008 Ranger single cab, but MY GOD, after picking up my truck yesterday I can't get over how HUGE it feels! Interior cabin feel is enormous, cavernous in comparison even to my old Honda CR-V. Even the exterior "feels" big to me, I went to apply a quick spray wax yesterday afternoon, having done the same job on my Ranger the weekend before, and it seemed like twice the work, area to cover. It's just fascinating, I'd previously seen a lot of pictures on here with side by side comparisons of the old rangers and the Maverick, I wasn't prepared for how much larger this vehicle would feel.

Don't get me wrong, I love every inch of it!! But for anybody who's thinking this is a teensy truck, they've got a reality check coming.

I've read threads like this a few times on the forum but I often wonder how true it is.

Specs are difficult to pin down on older vehicles but Motor Trend has an article on the 2008 Ranger and the size specs aren't all that different from the Maverick.

2008 Ranger specs: 188.9-203.6 x 69.3-71.3 x 66.2-67.7 inches
2023 Maverick specs: 199.7 x 72.4 x 68.7 inches

Measurements are length x width x height and as you can see your old Ranger isn't that much smaller than the Maverick. The Mav is a few inches wider and few inches taller but not by much.

Honestly I think it is mostly the cabin space that makes you think the Maverick is so much larger. You moved from a single cab pick up to a crew cab pick up.

Anyway, by todays standards the Maverick is a very small truck. Not a small vehicle by any means but in comparison to other trucks it is small.

I agree. It is not a small truck. My new Maverick is longer and as wide as my Jeep Wrangler unlimited 4 door with 35 inch tires with front and rear steel bumpers. Length wise, the Maverick barely fits in my standard garage. I park my cars in the garage so the Maverick is the only truck that would fit. Anything bigger, would not work.

I hear this and don't doubt your specs shown, but when I pulled into my carport for the first time yesterday I was just astonished to find it taking up considerably more room than the Ranger, especially nose to tail, had to pull it much more forward to keep it's tail out of the elements. Side to side, I'm not as sure about, but length-wise it is definitely longer. I have a gate at the head of my carport and I'm practically on top of it now, whereas with the Ranger I had tons of room to swing the gate wide open. Just surprised me, it's not something I was prepared for because I just assumed it was relatively the size of my old Ranger.

Hey stats from magazines are one thing but real world experience is another. Congrats on getting your Maverick! I'm glad to hear that you are happy with it and loving every inch of it!

About a year and a half and 20,000 miles later, I'm still occasionally surprised that this truck is big and small at the same time. When I see another one on the road (rarely) it seems so small, but it takes more space than my kid's Santa Fe....

Don't disagree. I've owned a second generation Ranger and two first generation S-10's (one being an extended cab). I also just sold my 1993 Chevy Silverado Short Bed. I've also owned a 2010 Nissan Frontier Quad Cab. I sold the Frontier because I felt like it was too big. The Frontier was considered a midsize truck when that body style came out (as the current version was a mini-truck). I honestly wish the Maverick was still a little smaller.

Silverado Specs:
194L - 77W - 74H

Frontier Specs:
219L - 73W - 74H

Maverick Specs:
200L - 73W - 69H

The Maverick is not a small truck.

I agree. I traded in a 2018 Tiguan for my Maverick, and the Maverick feels and drives much bigger.

1994 F-150 next to 2023 Maverick. The F-150 has an 8' bed but otherwise, the sizes are comperable.

It's not a small truck. It's just that full-sized trucks have gotten so ridiculously huge that, compared to today's F-150, Silverados, etc., it seems small to some people.

Compared to small trucks that were actually small a few decades ago, the Maverick is big.

It's small in the world of trucks today. In the late 90s early 2000s it would be almost the same size as the full size trucks.

It's a small truck. It has a small cab, a small bed and a small motor. It gets small vehicle mileage as well.

That's why most of us bought it.

Throw off the shackles of the shame of owning a small truck and embrace it. We are the future. We.....are pioneers.

(Steps away from the podium and listens to the throngs of MTC members cheering, encouraging me to run for elected office.)

Overall exterior dimensions are pretty close to my 2011 Ranger extended cab 4x4, which has a wheelbase of 125.9 inches whereas the Mav is 121.1 inches. Ranger width 71.3 inches vs Mav 72.6 inches. Ranger length 203.6 inches vs Mav 199.7 inches.

So basically the Mav is slightly wider by 1.3 inches, and shorter by 3.9 inches.
