The VA used to have a sign that said "Green Vehicles Only." They changed it to "Energy Efficient Vehicles Only" because we veterans are a funny lot and would park our green painted trucks in those spots.

Full-sized trucks have gotten so ridiculously huge, that many people might consider the Maverick a compact truck.
But this is closer to what I think of as a compact truck.

Signage should be reconsidered. "Compact vehicles only" seems fitting.

A Maverick is a Truck, yet compact by today's standards.
A motorcycle is not a car, but is compact, so not allowed?

Honestly...i'd want an oversized spot for my Mav to avoid dings from the non-attentive folks.

In my neck of the wood, the DMV registration states "SU", that stands for Sport Utility Vehicle. That's pretty much what it is and I initially called it an SUV too. Based on the fact that my fishing rods don't fit in the bed, an SUV would probably be better for fishing....

In Ontario Canada it is a truck, the Santa Cruz is a car

But @K5Blazer now your Maverick is confused. He knows he's more compact than other current generation trucks, but clearly he is a truck, so he wonders why you're parking him there !

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd Gen Rangers were Marketed as... "Compact Trucks" as well.

Examples: my 2008 3rd Gen(Opus 2) and my 1994 2nd Gen (Pups)..

My 2022 Mav is 11.2" longer, 2.3" wider and 0.4" tall then the 2008, pictured here.
(Yes, I did research this data, when thinking about getting a Maverick..)
Not much more bigger, I'd say...
