Only people who are underwater is those who trade with negative equity. I’m keeping mine for several years.
that isn’t the point. Even someone who pays in cash will be quite upset when they realize the $37k they paid for a $29k vehicle is now worth $20k when the market corrects fully.

I assume people still care about the value of their assets

Gotta drop the price when you're asking 50% over MSRP...and it's used, too.

My guess is the higher interest rates are really making folks think twice about buying a new vehicle.
yep - mark them up and mark them down. When they went to originally sell it they probably didn't send out an ad saying 'PRICE MARKUP'.

As supply chain issue decrease and dealers have stock you will be able to negotiate with dealers again for a decent deal. This will take longer for a Mav.
For ordering I do think the higher prices have some looking towards other brands.

I have a dealer offering me a Hybrid XL for $27,995. This is about $1,500 more than the 2024 version I ordered. I think that in this market it is a pretty good deal, but I agree that prices for the Maverick may be plummeting.

My dealer called me yesterday to tell me what I already knew that my Maverick is currently in production with a blend date of 4 days ago and to also let me know that my price will be $500 less than the sticker due to price protection. All this is $3,310 less than an identical 2024 model so I would say, for what it is worth, our '23's are going to be worth more than what we paid for some time t come. That ad on TV that says your vehicle will depreciate by at least 10% the second you drive off the lot most likely will not apply to the Maverick for at least a year.

I strongly recommend that one has new vehicle replacement on their insurance if they do not already.

If they cared about value they wouldn't have paid 37k for a 29k vehicle. Not everyone thinks the same. Others have the tough choice of paying ADM mark up or walking from their truck. Personally I'd walk lol!

I don’t see the destination and delivery charges. Are they included somewhere? Does this unit have co-pilot 360?

I assume the majority of people who paid a lot of money for theirs did so because they wanted it now and were willing to spend more to get it now. And understood just like anything new that's high demand, as supply catches up, value will drop. People either have enough money that they don't care, or they plan to drive it until it's only worth it's weight in scrap metal so how much it's worth mid ownership means absolutely nothing.

It should be included in MSRP with the dealer markup. If it is not then I will be walking when I go to the dealership today.

There has been a lot of anecdotal evidence about falling Maverick prices on the secondary market. With the 2024 order bank currently open -- and, surprisingly, no talk of it closing yet -- it would seem there is still opportunity for anyone who really wants a Maverick to order one at MSRP and get it exactly how they want. Granted, the 24 prices are higher than 22 or 23, but...

...that brings us to the secondary market on used Mavericks. I got the email below from a local dealer today.

They dropped the price on this used XL from a hugely inflated $35K to a still inflated $31k. It's definitely still not a "deal" by any means. However, there is no denying these trucks are sitting on the lot longer than they were, and it's getting harder and harder to find people willing to pay thousands over sticker. As many others have said, I believe the era of crazy Maverick markup and easy profit for flippers is coming to an end.
I suspect given the Maverick increases in price, demand should be blunted somewhat. If Ford doesn't get the orders it anticipates, there will be factory incentives forthcoming. Note RAM was recently advertising a $10K discount on its full size Big Horn pickup. Automobile pundits believe there will be a large drop in demand with the looming possibility of a recession.

Factory incentives on the Maverick. Now, that's something many here would love to see!

I picked up my ‘23 Lariat Lux Hybrid yesterday with 360, assist and moonroof with the original order price protected. It was $34,449 with dealer garbage. I traded in my ‘22 FE Lariat Lux with 28k miles, warranty almost out, 1/2 worn tires and a small chip in the windshield for $32,000. Apparently they used the Carmax number for trade in value. My ‘22 had a sticker price of $32,680.

I was hoping for a higher trade in value but on the positive side I saved $2400 in sales taxes. I ended up paying $2500 for a new ‘23 with new tires, new warranty, title, taxes and a tag that doesn’t expire until 9/24. I plan on keeping this one for at least 10 years or more so I feel good about the trade.

Yes, I think the days of super premiums on our Mavericks are coming to an end which is one of the reasons I had no desire to order a ’24.

That's a great deal for you! Glad it worked out the way it did. I agree there is no sense ordering a MY24. I actually believe Ecoboost models will be widely available by next summer/fall, and while hybrids won't be a dime a dozen by any means, people will not be tripping all over themselves to pay above sticker.

If Ram or any other brand comes with a small pickup for 2025, that will only accelerate the price drop on Mavericks.

I just ordered a 24 hybrid XLT with a trailer hitch receiver during the 3 days the older banks were open for hybrids, and the price with taxes, documentation fees, was just under $31,500.

That's total out the door. So this is an XL for the same price I ordered an XLT hybrid. I do have to wait about a year probably, but it makes more sense to order new.
