Parked next to a Baja at a Home Depot. Pretty amusing to see how the Baja makes the Maverick look large!

Subaru Baja gets around 22MPG combined according to EPA. Fun to see how far cars have come in fuel economy. But I guess the Ecoboost AWD is around 26 MPG combined rating too, to be fair.

Hard choice. I can't call it. Subaru Baja is weird in a good way.

If they tried to redo it though, it would look like a soccer mom van the same as every current modern Subaru.

I like it...I remember they had seats in the bed back then. Don't think it would be legal these days

That Subie has not aged well. Blech!
What could you possibly mean? Aside from some bed plastic fading it still looks great. Classic Subaru looks. If you are talking about its styling, you must just like something that looks like everything else, because thats what they look like now, everything else.

The Baja was a good concept and I was very interested at the time. I liked the idea of the opening bulkhead door allowing transport of long items. When I saw it on dealer's lot (used to be able to do that), the stying and price were what turned me off. More like the SC is today. Oh, all that plastic cladding!

It was never going to, imo. Neither has any other funky vehicle from the 2000s.
The 2000s was some of the last era when cars had fun styling. Not just "I am a 4cyling midsize sedan or wagon and I must look like I should be racing". Cars these days are too heavy, too aggresive, and have near zero character. Maverick is good departure from that.

To the OP, great pic. Parking that close to people would make me nervous as hell. My wife says I park so far away I need to take the bus to the store and take two parking spaces. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The plastic cladding looks terrible. Overall that looks terrible. I don't like Subarus at all anyways but that has to be one of the worst I've seen. Not for me.

Sure thats alot of plastic but atleast its painted unlike our Mavericks and everything else today. But really that generation of Subaru was the best they ever made in my opinion.
