Try to find a decent Baja for sale, and there are a few nice ones around.
Those people won’t get rid of them. Until the Mav there hasn’t been anything in that class of “pickup”. There was no replacement for the Baja.

Despite my anger towards Subaru over my last purchase of their product, if they would have offered another compact hauler, and if Ford had not offered the Mav, I would have been very tempted to buy something like that from them.

They are tiny looking now though aren’t they?

I parked next to an 80’s Toyota SR5 last week. My truck looked like a gorilla next to it. The great thing is that despite its larger size, the Mav gets probably double the mpg and would totally smoke it in acceleration.

Hard choice. I can't call it. Subaru Baja is weird in a good way.

If they tried to redo it though, it would look like a soccer mom van the same as every current modern Subaru.
Subaru of New England posted this April Fool's joke. The slightly aggressive look gets away from van looks of the Forester, but no way it's actually happening (and definitely wouldn't have a hybrid option).

Parked next to a Baja at a Home Depot. Pretty amusing to see how the Baja makes the Maverick look large!

Subaru Baja gets around 22MPG combined according to EPA. Fun to see how far cars have come in fuel economy. But I guess the Ecoboost AWD is around 26 MPG combined rating too, to be fair.

I owned a 2005 Baja in gray/silver. It was normally aspirated so not very fast, but it was dependable and with the full time AWD went everywhere I wanted it to. Its safety features saved my sons life a few years ago but the Subaru was totaled. Cars are like women in one way: perceived physical beauty is secondary to dependability and performance 😎.

The few short years they sold the Baja as a solid color (no grey fenders) are the best looking, IMO.

I've owned 3 Subarus and loved them- but their MPG has always been poor.

When I first ordered my Mav 2 years ago, I thought it was going to be a stretched out Baja. The Mav is so much more. Faster, stronger, roomier, quieter, better gas milage, an ECVT, A/C that works. I could go on.

A Mav is grownups vehicle.

I owned a 2006 Baha. Great little wanna-be truck, 4-wheel drive, full back seat, could haul lots of mulch, but not so great milage. In hind sight, I regretted trading it in for a Mazda3. I got all the convenience of a newer vehicle but lost a lot of hauling capability and the 4-wheel drive.
Then along came the Maverick! It was love at first sight and I couldn't wait get mine and
ditch that Mazda.

Before the Maverick came around I was sort of tempted to grab a Baja and an H6 Outback parts car, then swap the motor and harnesses over. The issue was finding one that wasn't rusted to heck (especially in that dog leg behind the rear doors.)
