Deposit required from dealer for 24 Mav XLT ?

I ordered a 24 XLT and dealer sent me build sheet and is asking for a deposit now is this normal ? Have to call them to see what there asking for deposit but was under impression that you did not need to put deposit down please tell me your exp.

It's not unusual for $100-$500 deposit, most times its refundable or deducted during purchase. Some dealers don't require, some do.

That's a good time to get the out the door price in writing too so they can't surprise you when it comes.

Seems like my dealer always ask for it as $1000 deposit is preprinted on sheet. It is up to each dealer, not required by Ford.

I will add, given the usual long wait for a Maverick and the time value of money nowadays: the deposit should not really be more than $500 IMO.

Depends on the dealer and the vehicle. For the Maverick Ford doesn't require a deposit at order so it's up to the dealer if they want to or not. On the Mach-E Ford requires a $1000 deposit when you place your order regardless of the dealer.

Also, if you are eligible and the dealer participates now is the best time to get any A, Z, or X plan pricing figured out with them.

It depends on the dealer. Definitely not a Ford requirement. My dealer took my order over the phone and charged me no deposit. Only required a copy of my driver's license for COVP.

Granger charged a $100 deposit. I expected it to be higher.

Like others said it is a good time to get the price and all fees for the new Maverick in writing up front. It protects the dealer in case you change your mind and it protects you because it makes the dealer give you the complete pricing up front and makes it contractual as apposed to a verbal commitment over the phone which legally is really no commitment.

With Granger I know exactly how much it will cost me when it arrives unless there is a bonus rebate from Ford.

I've ordered a '23 and now a '24 and my dealer did not require a deposit. If you have other Ford dealers close by, you may want to ask them; or tell your dealer you are going to check with other dealers and see if they offer to waive the deposit. Good luck.

This has been a normal practice since June or 2021 when the first orders were being taken.
