A base XL has gone up from $19,995 to $23,400 and that is not counting the shipping going up from $1,495 to $1,595. So a $3,505 increase for the base XL Ecoboost. Even more for the hybrid that used to be the standard engine! Add another $1,500 or so for the hybrid. That is enough to slow down demand, in addition to the long wait times to get a truck.
That $19,995 was never a realistic price. Kudos to those who wanted/got one at that underprice. Actually, if you got any model under $25k, it was a steal.

Figure with that $19,995 number, Ford didn't have to spend ANY money on advertising (they still haven't). When we start seeing Maverick ads any where near the number of RAM ads that I see daily, then I'll believe Ford has passed the easily marketable price for a Maverick of any flavor.

raising the price, not improving the vehicle (heck if anything making it worse) and not making people's trucks that were ordered a long time ago adds up to some pretty frustrated people that are going to move onto something else.

My 23 XLT Hybrid just arrived and I now plan to sell it. I've had my Corolla Hybrid for a few months (after waiting 5 months for it to be built) now and am loving 55 mpg. While a truck is more flexible and would make certain occasions more enjoyable I have a hard time with the idea of selling the car and I'm not in a situation where two new cars makes sense financially (1st new car in my life was the Corolla and I dont do auto loans).
My new Corolla received extensive hail damage. Between almost receiving MSRP and insurance, I managed to secure a hybrid AWD Corolla with premium package for no additional cost, and fortunate to not have an auto loan on it. Also loving the 55-59 MPG.

While I gave up the hybrid XLT Maverick earlier this year, having a vehicle that has both AWD and is hybrid, is the best solution for me at this time. Would love the small bed, but Ford needs to expand its features without dellay.

See nothing wrong with the order banks stay open for months, instead of days. However, curious and like to see the sales numbers and mixes. Tim Bartz, @fordvideoguy is a great source, but he did not take new 2024 orders so we are SOL for the mix.

The 2022, order banks for the Hybrid closed Nov 1 and for ecoboost was Jan 15th. Think everything is fine, just a lot of people never heard of the Maverick and everyone piled on, including a lot of flippers and people ordering from multiple dealerships, 2023MY. My guess the order banks will close before the 2022 MY dates. Still no major ad campaign needed.

Be happy and enjoy your trucks or know you'll will probably not have to wait as long as other years, I hope. Took me 1 year from October to October to receive my truck and felt like I hit the lottery. Received mine while others got rolled over. Benefited from my dealer receiving a large allocation and was the last one built from there. They had 11 unfilled and rolled over 10 as 1 did not want it.

I don't disagree with your numbers. However, unless income has also increased 12.5% then it is still a price increase compared to 2022. I definitely haven't gotten 12.5% in raises two years.
Exactly. There is a word for that “stagflation”

This could be the beginning of the car market crash I keep hearing about. It will be interesting to see what Carvana will be paying for used Mavs this year.
Agree with you point but it probably won’t be Carvana. They may not be around in a year. Major debt issues. They grew too fast on borrowed money.

My dealer didn't want to give me the Dora with the out-the-door price after making the order and was insistent that they needed to add paint protection despite promising MSRP with no dealer adds a month ago.

I canceled the order and lost my enthusiasm for the truck as I don't want to deal with crap dealers and their shenanigans. It has to be a sleazy NJ thing.

I'll just wait until I can put 50% down on a cyber truck honestly.

Let's hope this dealer sends me back my $500 deposit I put down a month ago.

I really hope Ford abolishes these dealers and these hack no talent salespeople can go work for some pyramid scheme

Hybrid orders closed 11/15/21...with COVP required by 11/18/21. I squeaked in on 11/3/21!

Thanks for the correction. What happened last year MY2023 was an aberration and this will be closer to MY2022. Meaning nothing is wrong and to carry on. Still see the posts of some dealers are bad. My daughter's order went in July 18th at 11:42AM. Paperwork and $500 deposit taken on July 20th as one document was not readable and then he was out the next day. Sales MAnager said they normally do not do x-plan but would it for my daughter as already bought there and on the top, says Motor Vehicle purchase contract. Kind of oddly says, Will qualify for x-plan once available and the next line lists my x-plan#.

They treated me well, as found out about x-plans 3 weeks after ordering. They basically gave me invoice pricing and was an even 32k with the doc fee. Build details are in my signature.

How much does 1/2 a Cyber Truck cost these days? Isn't the Order book for them 1.9 Million?

I think they found that people were more than happy to add 10K$ more in options to their original 21K base truck and then they thought well we marketed it as an inexpensive truck but people are willing to throw big profit margins at it so let's just go that route. Pretty much the customer base did it to themselves. I don't know why people are willing to ramp up the cost so much other than they had an original budget of 30K$+ and they just wanted to spend it on this. For those of us that just stuck with the base xl and spend 22K we made the right choice at the right time.
For me, it was the first situation I've ever been in to custom order a vehicle. I knew which trim level I wanted pretty quickly and then just added on everything I wanted (having owned a few trucks in the past). I figured I would remove items to make the vehicle come out to a reasonable price. When I got done, it was still $10k less than the other vehicle I was considering, so I ordered it exactly how I wanted it. If it had gone even $5k higher, I would have been more torn about removing items or going with that other vehicle. The math made sense for my 2022. Would be a much closer call for a 2024, but then I also haven't looked at the price increases on the other vehicle, either.

I think this is a fair assessment - but if this is what ford is thinking, they misinterpreted what customers were actually doing. I think people pick the trim they could afford that had the luxury features they were used to in their similarly priced sedans which lead them to getting XLT or higher. I don't think it calls for an opportunity to raise prices and offer less features.
I bought the XLT solely because I liked the rims and the interior colors. While I 100% agree I overpaid. I could've bought aftermarket rims and seat covers for way less.

Plus I wanted cruise control, and didn't know it was standard in the XL for 2023 lol

Everytime I see a post like this I'm reminded of this funny scene from the movie Fargo where the shady salesman forces a customer to buy "Truecoat."

If Ford etal got rid of their no talent dealers there would be less than a handful left!

All things combined: more shifts of production, higher allocations, less new orders might actually translate to 23s getting pushed out, and better turnarounds on new 24s.

I could also smash 3 honey buns today and hope to lose a pound. We shall see.

My old lady might be mad if the maverick shows up before the end of the year though. I'm probably pretty safe.
Agree with all posts on this. I just got a vin number the other day for my 2023 XLT 2.0 to be built Sept 7th. I did just order a 2024 yesterday. Just in case they continue to gain value I'll be in. If they don't I'll just drop the order. Just covering the bases. At the price I got the 2023 $500 less than MSRP and the midyear spray in bedliner and the bed tie down with rails for a total of $495 I'm sitting good on this one!
