yep - fully understand. It's still good that they offer the XL and still at a reasonable price. In that I was just getting tired of sinking repair $ into an old SUV with lousy MPG I was glad that they offered something that didn't have any whistles and/or bells that I didn't really need or want and didn't want to have to pay for. So it worked out for everyone.

Life is too short for cheap trucks without a good windshield, safety features, a good radio, heated seats and steering wheel, and intelligent access with push-button start.

My 2023 Lariat Lux Hybrid BAP is perfect for me, and came with a $2750 private offer at approx $32,550 with Xplan. Its a C-max with a bed and a spare tire that I'll eventually tow.

I love it enough to have ordered a $36,805.99 2024 clone in Carbonized Grey. I honestly don't know what I'll do when/if it gets here. Maybe I'll have had a wreck in this one and really want it...maybe my wife will want it...or best case scenario, maybe it will get rolled over to a 2025 and I can be in the front of the line for a 2025 AWD Hybrid. Worst case scenario, I tell the dealer I don't want it when it arrives. What I do know is none of those choices will be there if I hadn't ordered one.

But I think these prices are still reasonable. The 2022s were hella great bargains, but the 2023s had more flexibility with BAP and Navigation available. A 2023 with a private offer was still a hella bargain. The 2024 may look like a great bargain too in 6-18 months.

i agree I am glad their is a base model. The more trim levels in my opinion is the best so that everyone gets what they need/want. I think the increase in price is not people loading up on options but a demand issue. Even at the increased prices this is still entry level pricing. A Honda civic has 4 trim levels at 23k, 25k, 27k and 30 k. The 24 prices in line with new entry level vehicles

I guess timing is everything. My wife’s Lariat hybrid got here this week. Fully loaded at just over $35K. Traded in 23 XLT hybrid with 5500 mi that has a MSRP under $29K. Got $34,000 trade in and after $500 Farm Bureau rebate up front, paid under $600 difference. After tax and all fees, just under $1,000 OTD difference. Talked to dealer today and they sold the trade the next day. Maverick is still hot commodity

Last year after the order banks opened. (Ithink 7 Days) They shut the order banks down.. I am surprised they are still open. I think Fords Plan to slow orders down has worked. ( May not be good in the long run for Ford) As my 05 Ranger XL is still holing up. My Livestock has never cared if the Hay/Feed had the comfort of a Lariat. They ride in the bed or Trailer just fine, I did ask My lead nanny when taking her to the vet did she want a Lariat she said Nahhh. Just joking guys but I just cant get them in The Cab seat belt laws ya know.

The discussions on pricing are interesting to read. I purchased Lariat Hybrid with Lux/360/Moonroof two model years ago for MSPR of $32,750. 2024 model configured the same would be $36,725 an increase of about 12.2%. During that same time period, inflation has grown by 12.5%. All things being equal, the price of the nearly identical vehicle is essentially the same, relatively speaking.

I don't disagree with your numbers. However, unless income has also increased 12.5% then it is still a price increase compared to 2022. I definitely haven't gotten 12.5% in raises two years.

Ford will be very cautious in marketing the Maverick to full extend, as it may indirectly affect F-150 sales. For eg: in my case, actually i want to buy F-150 and then changed my mind to buy maverick due to compact size, easy to park in congested areas/down towns, fuel economy and descent bed size. Please note: I am a first time truck buyer.

I traded in an F 150 as it was to big and got poor fuel mileage. It has been said Chevy has that issue with the Camaro and the Corvette. Can't make the Camaro to good otherwise it will hit on Corvette sales.

Well 36,500 people liked the Santa Cruz enough to buy it in 2022. There will be competition in both the BEV and the Hybrid space soon. Hopefully there will be a Plug-In Hybrid option as well.

I don't disagree with your numbers. However, unless income has also increased 12.5% then it is still a price increase compared to 2022. I definitely haven't gotten 12.5% in raises two years.

My wife and I are retired and are getting Social Security.

The last two years we got increases (raises) of 5.9% in 2022 and 8.7% in 2023 or 15.1% total compounded.

I checked yesterday (Friday 7-21) with the sales department at the dealership where I work, they have had no new orders all week, just the roll over orders for '23s already on order. No surprise they said (and I agree) when you take what exactly 2 years ago was being marketed as a vehicle starting at under $20K (plus destination) with standard powertrain capable of 40+ mpg and turn that same vehicle in to a $25K ($24900 plus destination) vehicle.

Everything is more expensive than 2 years ago.

A base XL has gone up from $19,995 to $23,400 and that is not counting the shipping going up from $1,495 to $1,595. So a $3,505 increase for the base XL Ecoboost. Even more for the hybrid that used to be the standard engine! Add another $1,500 or so for the hybrid. That is enough to slow down demand, in addition to the long wait times to get a truck.

You can't get a hybrid for $24,900. I believe it is more like $26,495.

Many people have gotten more than a 12% increase in two years, further putting pressure on prices to go up. Prices can come down, wages don't. So if your income hasn't gone up 12% you are helping to bring down prices. Thank you.
