small 30 mile trips is hardly what they were talking about lol.
Besides, I’m pretty sure that “Old Man” was being sarcastic as evidenced by his comment that the payoff would only take 2 weeks. I was just showing a snapshot of my personal experience with the mileage. When I drive my 455 Buick LeSabre I get around 10 mpg regardless of how i drive…

They really didn’t specify did they? My average is around 54 mpg per tank, mostly because I don’t drive like an angry teenager…
my point was a couple trips != lifetime mpg. I've gotten 25 in the city with my mustang GT before. doesnt really make it 25mpg which was my point to Old Man if they were not joking.

so your lifetime mpg is 54mpg? that is also tracked on the mav

also… you’re surprised that a 40+ year old Buick isn’t as efficient as a brand new maverick?

If I plug-in 45 MPG City for Hybrid and 22 MPG City for EB,
If I plug-in an average of $3.25/gallon,
It would take 21,356 miles to pay off the hybrid.

I have been keeping track of miles/day and it would take me almost two years (490 days) at $4.58/gallon. In other words, it still pays to get the hybrid if you live somewhere gas is expensive.

I prefer the 8-speed transmission that comes with the Ecoboost and the independent rear suspension with the AWD. I owned a 22 XL Hybrid and sold it quickly. I am much happier with the 23 XLT EB AWD. To each their own...

Thanks for commenting. I am looking forward to hearing other people's thoughts and opinions.
OK. Everyone I know gets in the 40's, I get 46. So why is the EPA rating only 37mpg?

lol 50,60,100.

come on now :)
Oh yes, they do it. Drive three miles to the store all downhill, get pic of that speedometer showing that kind of mileage, but we all know that is not real world. Man, if I were getting that 70 to 100 in real world, I would probably forget where the stations are.

Notice no one will post their lifetime mpg for some reason.

Here ya go: I only have 1450 miles, but my lifetime mileage is 37.5.

Of that 1450 miles, 900 were on interstates with 70-80 mph speed limits and the truck has seen 90. When I first got it, lifetime was around 33, as the factory put 40 miles on it.

As I spend more time on short bursts in the city, it has been climbing quickly. Those 50-70 mpg bursts may be short distances, but they add up. Beats the hell out of my old 13-15 mpg S-10.

Math is fun. However, at 8500 miles with 85% highway miles, I'm averaging an overall 34MPG on my 23 Lariat Ecoboost AWD. I've achieved 40MPG on 350 mile interstate drives at speed limit +5 with adaptive cruise and lane keep engaged. Fuel costs between hybrid and eco will vary widely depending on individual use cases.

FuelEconomy.gov's calculator is pretty easy to use. You can choose the Hybrid maverick from the list and it will automatically populate the EB comparison. Then you can edit your gas prices, estimated miles and even your city/hwy percentage to get a pretty fine tuned look at your costs.

I plugged in my driving mileage of 25k miles a year and I was saving $96 a month. And I bought a 2023 so I haven’t had to pay a premium for the hybrid. I’ll take that.

But with hybrid you will probably never have to change the brakes, no turbo to worry about, etc.

Also the truck will drive fine even if the battery won't hold charge anymore. The price difference would've been paid back long before that.
Can someone confirm it drives if the HV battery is toast? I thought reverse was electric only.

Just don't use the EPA info on the window sticker. The sticker just posted for my build is using $2.95 a gallon for the annual fuel cost calculation. Will someone please advise them to get real? We haven't seen those prices in about 3 years.
I paid under that for a 2-3 month period about 2-3 months ago, but it has shot back up to $3.50 since the weather warmed up and the young persons are not in school.

You don't use the brakes to stop?
Wow
In my deisels I rarely use my brakes, unless I'm in my Ram towing. I had to replace my ram brakes recently, and the pads were almost 8 years old! I also had to replace the rotors, calipers and lines due to it being 20 years old, but the pads were still ok for another 10k easily.

I think it's more of a relaxed "driving thing." I used to think it was a deisel thing.

P.S. none of this relates to my non-existant Mav.

I posted in my 1 year review comments - as I recall somewhere between 39-40 MPG (as noted on truck dash) for 12,500 miles. If you have never had a hybrid, mileage goes down in colder weather (below 40F?) because battery efficiency for all kinds goes down when it gets colder.

I regularly get in the 42-45 range during warmer weather.

this is just about the same as I got in my Camry hybrid that I traded in and I can toke around a lot more stuff in my maverick

Exactly what I was getting at. People posting their 65+MPG over a 19 mile trip doesnt really mean anything. 40ish seems correct for combined long term driving.

Its still an amazing number
