My feeling is they intend to build all MY23s scheduled. I'm aware of last year.

Yes they "intend to build all MY23s scheduled" but after the disaster at the end of 22 my trust in what Ford "intends" is not strong.

I had my dealer put in a 24 order even though I have a MY23 build date of 9/4/23.
Ford/My dealer can cancel the MY24 when my MY23 is built.

I agree. Worth noting as well that last year the order banks didn't even open until mid September. Everything scheduled will be built and if not it will be rolled over and prioritised
.

I went in to my dealer on Saturday with the intention of ordering a '24 in case my '23 isn't built. My salesman told me my truck will be built and in case something weird happens and it doesn't, it will rollover with price protection.

Take that for what it's worth.

I do have a build date of 8/28, so I'm pretty confident in getting mine built. If it was late September, I'd be a bit nervous.
What it's worth is zero. Your salesman is just trying to make less work. Yes, it probably will be built with an 8/28/23 build week...but Ford instructed that you reorder on 7/17, just in case, in its memo you can find on MTC.

On paper, your scheduled MY23 will be built. To avoid a situation like last year, I would not be surprised if this last run is scheduled with fewer trucks than capacity to allow for moving around before the model year transition. We also don't have a set date for the transition yet, which means Ford may even push that back (and fill the empty slots with Fleet/Stock) to ensure all scheduled retail orders are built.

VIN = truck. They have already eaten an allocation for that VIN and if cancelled, it will be rescheduled as a Cancelled VIN MY24 with the same allocation at an even lower priority number than the MY23 rollovers.

My opinion is you should not have to order a MY24 if your MY23 has already been scheduled.

Last year "they" told us if you have a VIN, your truck will get built. Turned out that wasn't the case as thousands of VINs got cancelled. So who knows. There are no guarantees.
Agreed...order it just to CYA!

It won't rollover with a private offer unless a 24 order with the same order number and dealer is made. They are making extra effort to build the rollovers this year because of the problems last year. But there is no guarantee. The factory could burn down. Biggest problem is the willingness to sacrifice the entire order just to get a hybrid when they have said over and over and over they can't build that many hybrids.
I told this to my dealer and he said that is not true. What is the source of this information?

Ford really needs to get their act together! I placed an order for a 2023 XLT on 9/19/2022, on 7/17/2023 I received an e-mail stating my 2023 rolled over to a 2024, but still no guarranty it will be built!

On 6/19/2023 we ordered a 2024 Jeep Wrangler for my wife. On 6/22/2023 it was schedulted for production. I was notified today it went into production yesterday and has an estimated delivery date of 8/11/2023! She'll probably have 12,000 miles on it before I ever see the 2024 Maverick! Pretty sad actually...

My background: So I am basically a down and sad type individual. My parents are about to pass and dream is to have truck to work on our house to make them happy. My sibling just bought new tesla to make me look more like a fool during the year I have been waiting for this truck to surprise everyone that my life is moving forward. Used to have a brand new Mustang from dealership in late 90s and fell in love with Ford. Did not sign up for FY24 as I order FY23 in Sept almost a year ago. I now drive a boring embarrassing old Camry I bought new after my Mustang because I was tired of stick shift in California after 15 years. My life is full of downs, but you know a new car makes you feel happy again and enjoy life. I hope for the worst and get surprised if anything good comes my way.

3 Questions:
- I have email for scheduled build date for Mav Hybrid XLT on Aug 25.
Is there any chance it wont be built?
- Do I still need to order 2024 for backup?
- If I check the tracking, it does not show any scheduled build date
at all. It is only in my email from Ford. This has been the case for
weeks now. Is this normal?

Yes. But given there are two more months of production, you should be fine.
No.
Normal. Tracker won't really populate until closer to Aug 25. If you have a VIN, it's just a waiting game.

A couple of weeks ago we were all confident all of the Eco's, at least, would be built. Now, we hear there is a shortage of Carbonite Grey wheels which may impact non FX/4 XLT's getting built. It will be interesting, come this Thursday, to see how many XLT's get scheduled.

Moral of the story, who in hell knows.

Jeep Wranglers used to have months of waiting for orders, I know I had one ordered.

Who sent you an email saying it had been rolled over? It is't an automatic roll over.
