hmm, Toyota must be doing something right. Quality and performance are no doubt big factors.I honestly dont know why anyone buys a Tacoma, they are just too bulgy looking and otherwise small inside.

I feel like im falling into dis-loyalty. I absolutely love my maverick but the purchase process and dealership interactions through all of these recalls have been terrible. It makes me think twice. Prior to this I was living in a city and did 3 new car leases all Acura/Honda and I never had this many issues with customer service or the car getting messed up.I don’t think brand loyalty is as big but i do think brand fear is somthing to watch . I’ll never buy a Kia for xyz reasons or Ram etc
Not to mention better dealership interactions (at least in my area). You are getting railed with dealer markups at Ford while Toyota dealerships sell what they have (minus the supra they always mark up the supra)hmm, Toyota must be doing something right. It is ALWAYS Better that a Brand Cannibalize its own product / sales, rather than allow a COMPEITOR do it. This has been proven time and time again. Basically, it's not even a defense in strategy planning anymore.I was at my local Ford dealer yesterday. Like everywhere else, they can't get Mavericks and if/when they do, they are sold quickly above MSRP.
So, I asked the sales manager whether anyone has placed an order for the new, 2024 Ranger. He said, "One."
We then talked about how the 24 Ranger may be a flop. He said he feels Ford priced it too high relative to the competition, and I said that I feel it lacks aesthetically and value-wise compared to the new Colorado in say a Trail Boss trim, which I would certainly choose over the Ranger.
Bottom line: Ford has probably cannibalized the Ranger sales long term with the Maverick, and the introduction of a lackluster refresh for 2024 isn't going to help matters. I'd be willing to bet 2024 Ranger sales will be pretty woeful.
It is still in production:I'm not sure you are correct? But when I purchased my 2011 Kia, They already made a truck for other markets, Not sure what happened to that Truck?
I don’t know about quality, Toyota reliability is not what it was 20 years ago. Performance is at the bottom of the pack, or was recently. Reputation is what sells them.hmm, Toyota must be doing something right. Quality and performance are no doubt big factors.
I agree....Ford has probably cannibalized the Ranger sales long term with the Maverick.
agreed new ranger feels like full size truck when driving itI agree.
The Maverick is what people had hoped the current Ranger would be when it came out a few years back - close to the size of the original Ranger .
Basil Fawlty-John Cleese. Fawlty Towers when he gets O'Reilly to build his wall?As Monty Python would say, I am not cheap, I am cheapish.![]()
LOL, I saw that. I think in 2011 it was rendered more like the Subaru, Well it did look pretty sweet! It is still in production:

And Asian dealers sell only what is given to them, no custom ordering. Plus the importers add extras at the ports when they come in to up the price whether the customer wants them or not. Bad dealers aren't specific to one brand - all have bad ones and all have good ones. It is up to the customer to choose a good dealer. Not to mention better dealership interactions (at least in my area). I'm not sure about that. When I had a Tacoma and my wife had a Prius, taking either car to the dealer meant bracing yourself for an onslaught on overpriced and unnneeded services, bogus claims of worn out items, etc. They were awful -- I truly worried and felt bad for seniors and single women that must have just been terrified into replacing parts that were fine and having work done that was total BS. And Toyota OEM parts prices are laughable. .Not to mention better dealership interactions (at least in my area). That is trueOr Maverick overtakes Tacoma but Ford can't make enough of em. If Ford made 200,000 of them last year and actually advertised them anywhere. They would have sold em all by the end of January 2023.
