Slippery mode? It gets used pretty much exclusively for weeks where I live. Sometimes the sun comes out and gets the ice off the road.
Eco mode works well for me.

The main reason we ordered a Maverick was to tow our travel trailer, didn't want an SUV, didn't need a bigger truck, just wanted something practical, good on gas, comfy on long trips and would fit in our garage. All those things others have mentioned it has met expectations, but, I am still constantly impressed with how well it tows, 5k + miles of towing our little trailer now and I have yet to be in a position where I have needed more power, more braking, more stability or more of anything really. It does it all flawlessly. I've towed big loads with big trucks over the years but this little truck impresses me more than anything I've ever towed with, it does it all with the minimum of fuss

We've had a couple complaint threads so let's hear some unexpected positive things that surprised you about your Mav. Not your general likes, but something that exceeded what you expected.

For me:

Excellent AC
Interior roominess despite small size
Quiet and smooth ride (this was probably my #1 surprise, saw many complaints on this one but my XLT hybrid is very smooth and quiet at highway speeds)
Everything period on my Hybrid.

And 10X more with my Tremor.

Things got nuts.... Keeps up with a new stock WRX to 60mph, flourishing aftermarket support year 2.

software updates to the radio have made it 200% more usable, stupid comfy interior, the bed has only felt small when I had my snow wheels in there.

Owning it feels like a lot of money but man is it worth it...
I do wish the tuning support was as good as the 3rd gen Tacoma I had though. I'd drop a tune in this immediately if they had something compatible to what the KDMaxx Pro tune did to my taco. Fixed thoss crappy transmission shift points instantly, got slightly better MPG and better HP.

No one's mentioned the blue jean-esque seats. A major selling point for me, the main reason I went with XLT over the less expensive xl. Ford nailed it on this seat style.

Complete comfort for a 6'1", 215# guy even after a 6 hour road trip.
Strong solid bassy stereo right out of the box.
Stylish looks despite being boxy when compact trucks started going curvy.
An AC that rivals the freezer in the basement.
Brings back memories of the car I drove when I took my driver's license road test last century.
The best value for the buck especially when you factor in over 40 MPG!

I'm certain it's been mentioned by now. I mentioned it in my initial post in this thread but also about the Lariat color choices. Both just work for me. Not a fan of the Tremor/BAP interior at all. Super bland compared to the other two options.

mileage is getting better - maybe there's some internal tuning going on but I am getting 45+ mpg (mostly city) whereas last year maybe 42. A/C is wonderful, paint has held up well and have had 0 problems in almost a year.

For me the fordpass app was a much bigger plus than I expected. I can start my truck from a mile or two away while exercising and return to find it nice and cool. Even unlock the doors while changing shoes and storing gear.
I like the blue fabric seats, even the orange accents aren't bad like I thought I might find them. I'm still impressed by the design and colors of the dashboard, I think it looks very upscale compared to the charcoal or grey everything interiors of every new or used vehicle I've owned or rented.
My wife has driven a Prius and found the shifter and starting rather unusual compared to a normal key/shifter interface. She loved how having an ignition key and shifter was so similar, it isn't like she has to learn how to make it go all over again.
My 3 teenage kids hopped in the back seat and declared that it is more comfortable than the seats in the back of our grand caravan.
I haul a few heavy tool cases in the bed of my truck for work. My frontier often hit the bump stops on speed bump like obstacles because of the weight. The Maverick just floats over the same areas, and doesn't dance around on expansion joints like the solid rear axle frontier did.
The bed is surprisingly deep, I really expected it to feel very tight under the tonneau, but it really feels deeper than the frontier.
I put over a hundred thousand miles on an '01 and '12 focus and love how the Maverick steering and braking is so similar, not quite the more clumsy feel my '88 and '99 rangers had.
Getting around 40 mpg with the A/C cranked is another surprise

21,000 miles so far and I find this is the perfect vehicle for me. Drive around town, long road trips, carries the kayak to the water, hauls mulch for the yard in bulk, totes the bikes.... The list goes on.

Gonna put my Neck out.
1. MPG is insane 41 MPG and yes up to 50 MPG
2 Comfort (But I am used to a 05 Ranger or a 59 Ford Truck)
3. Bed big enough to haul 4 Goats to the Market. ( Yep it was a work Truck)
4. The Great one Selling Mavs for 12 to 11 K over what i Paid for them. Doing the Math my oxford white XL 23. Its will be paid for. Insane resale value is awesome. Yes I feel guilty. Until I went to the Ford house and see a dealer charging 41K for a Base model 23 Mav XL

A one day observation in the life of my Maverick Hybrid. The date was Saturday July 8th.

It was a rather cool day in the Metro KC area for being well into July. The Maverick was garaged. The Ave MPG for the currently half full tank was 40.4mpg.

Upon exiting the garage the ICE did not start as usual. Just the ASMR chirp of my own personal OSHA beeper. My lady friend and traveling partner in crime commented how quiet the car was as we ventured out of town a bit. The A/C was set on 73°, fan speed on #3. As we pulled onto the highway The ICE kicked in and the power meter was showing 30%. After a few seconds we were flowing with traffic and the Mav kicked into Electric. Our first destination was 23 miles away.

On the way there were many miles of fresh asphalt with some nice sweeping turns. Once the Mav was warmed up the truck was in electric mode about half the time. Again we both commented on how quiet the interior was on these smooth roads at moderate speeds.

After leaving the first destination the truck was warm inside only for a few seconds, the A/C doing a great job quickly. Our next destination was about 7 miles away of city stop and go at 45 mph or less, with minimal ride discomfort over mottled pavement at times. At our second destination arrivals the trip mpg was 56.7 for the 7 mile trip. 4.9 miles of electric.

At the end of the pleasant comfortable trip in the Maverick, the MPG for the tank rose 1.6 MPG after about 55-60 miles of driving yesterday.

Conclusion: Fantastic frugal urban runner.

what a great Thread! there is SO much attention to the negative it's about time that the world hears about some of the maybe lesser known cool attributes.

My top 'surprise" would be the performance of the Hybrid powertrain. sure, U buy a hybrid you probably already expected the great MPG but i was very pleasantly surprised at the ease at which it handles merging with highway traffic or passing slower traffic on the highway or in the city. Dont underestimate that instant torque assist from the electric motor, its real. no its not like driving a 5.0 Mustang but it exceeded my expectations big time.
