1. Value - When I ordered mine, the Hybrid was less than the EB.
2. Gas mileage - Since it is my daily driver to and from work (~10 miles each way) with the Hybrid I can go over a month without filling up.

I would imagine the EB take rate would be much lower if:

You could get a hybrid AWD
Said hybrid AWD had 4k tow ability
Said hybrid is equally obtainable vs non-hybrid

But since none of that is reality right now, the EB wins for reasons not necessarily related to the engine itself.

Not to say the 2.0EB is not desirable, it's a very efficient engine for what it is. But I'm sure most would opt in for all the same, plus hybrid ability, *if* it was available.

Now, having said all that, I'm completely happy with my EB Maverick. It does everything asked of it relatively drama free, and at high levels of efficiency compared to similar applications.

Like many others have said, AWD and 4K tow capacity.

I have to have AWD for what I do so ECO or nothing. Also like the independent rear suspension. I'm surprised no one has mentioned that yet. That was also very important to me. Pretty much a no brainer for me. :)

Horsepower and Reliability. Had a bad previous experience with hybrid. Not a Mav

Couldn't convince idiot sales dudes that the order banks were open; could only order EB when I could; turned out to be a good thing since I actually got it.

Do not like CVT operations, and whan I ordered, the full information was not readily available. I still do not like CVT transmissions.
This particular CVT puts electric motors in stall or partial stall to change the gear ratios, and perhaps reverse. The concept is nice, but to drive these motors, the electronics have to be very good, very reliable, and able to withstand all the heat which they will generate.
Guess I am too old to believe they got all that right on the first try. I realize Fusions and Escape models had CVT/hybrids, but am not sure if they were CVTe or the style with belts/bands.
Plus, more hp than I ever had over all my years of driving. zoom zoom zoom zoom zoom zoom zoom

Gas mileage was not a concern for me. I'm coming from a 2011 Tundra that gets about 15mpg combined, so anything either would do better. Plus I most often work from home.
When I do do out I want to be able to get through snow and would like to keep the ability to tow a reasonable portion of what the Tundra could. So: AWD & 4k Tow were the main options I wanted.

I did not want a CVT either. But the Mav is a eCVT. Big difference
Big reason that I ordered a hybrid. If it was a regular CVT, I would pass.

Front wheel drive is snow.. Nope
That's funny. I've just had RWD the last 11 winters. FWD will be quite the upgrade in winter driving.

Same here. Though I never got stuck with the old Sport Trac rear wheel drive, I aready noticed much improvement with the Mav last winter.
