Does anyone know how the prepaid subscriptions work? I ordered a 23 hybrid Lariat and it apparently came with a navigation system. On fords website it says that there is a 5 year prepaid subscription. When I was signing all the paper work last night there was also a document that mentioned sirus radio for 3 years.
Thanks.

Don't know what to tell ya on navigation, I don't use it or want it. I do use the Sirus XM Radio though. It came with a 3 month trial. When that ended i called sirus to check pricing, they extended it free another 3 months. I recently started paying like $6 month but I don't do all that talk, sports, comedy, news plan stuff. Just the music part, I like it.

I also have a Lariat with the Nav system. As OleFordGuy says, the Mav comes with a 3 month subscription to SiriusXM's 'all channels' package.

Sirius also has the ability to deliver Traffic data to the Nav system (so you can see traffic jams on the nav display) and also something they call 'Travel Link' which is weather, etc data.

Supposedly the Traffic/Travel Data part of the subscription lasts for 5 years. I've not used that so I can't really say much about it. Personally, I find the Ford Nav 'usable' but I prefer Waze/Apple Maps to it.

Lots more here: https://www.ford.com/technology/siriusxm/#ffic

If you're not familiar with Sirius, it's a great service but you should never pay 'list price' - if you call them and tell them you want to cancel, you can *always* get a better deal...

Sirius called a couple of times right after I got my truck but I did not pick up. All of my friends say the $6 is the price to pay. How do I get that with minimum hassle- do I call or can I somehow get that rate online? I don't want to deal with some pushy salesperson. If necessary I will let it expire to get the rate. Is it still only a 6 month extension?

Yeah, they kept calling me until I told them to pound sand... 🤣

I just 'registered' my account online but did not agree to a subscription plan. A few weeks later, they sent me an email offering a 3 month extension for free (with billing to resume at 23.99/mo thereafter - hah). I took that, and put a notice on my calendar to call them a few days before it expires and cancel. When you cancel, just keep telling them it's too much and they'll offer you a better deal -$5-$6/month for just the music channels is about right.

I use Sirius in the Escape and that is only because I was able to be party to a class action suit from when I purchased a "lifetime" sub a decade ago which basically transferred that sub to the Escape. I don't plan to pay for it in the Explorer/Maverick as I mainly listen to Tidal and use Waze.

@B2000 You can usually get Sirius to extend your savings offer for 12 months max. I grew tired of hassling with them every year over it and haven't had their service, outside of free weekends and a 1 month free offer, since 2019. They recently sent me an offer for $5 per month for two years. The promotion ends 7/6/23.
Anyone can access that offer at
SiriusXM.com/2yrdeal1
Good luck!

I just called them few days before my 3 months was up told them I didn’t want to renew the full pkg trail plan they described several different plans and pricing and I chose the cheaper one, it still has lots of channels I don’t care about and did have all the ones I did want. They were NOT pushy with me, actually very nice. Like others have said, tell them you’ll just cancel if you don’t like what they initially discuss, tell them you heard about a $6 plan etc

If you let it expire, they will send you a discount offer. Alternatively, you can call and ask for the 12 months for $60 promo you "saw online."

Sadly, it looks like that offer is only good for folks without a current subscription. I just tried it and it dumped me back into my existing account with no deal... 😥

The fine print does says "Activate a Music & Entertainment subscription plan..." which suggests it doesn't work if you already have a valid sub.

Been thinking. I might go for 8-10 year plan for two vehicles for $50-$60 prepaid total.

You know the old adage about boiling a frog slowly, starting with cold water and turning up the heat slowly, so the frog doesn't notice?

Well that's what OEMs all over the globe have planned for you and me. At investor conferences, they're even crowing about the hundreds of billions they're going to get milking consumers with subscription services. Get ready to pay, and pay, and pay...
