Im surprised XLT trim don`t come with Nav. , mine has the Lux pkg. and 301a and still didnt have it, have to use phone. Me thinks Ford is a little stingy with what is included with the options

Beware that if your phone plan has limited data, using it for navigation will gobble up that data.

I don’t use NAV much anyway just for finding places in town that I don’t know where they are. I’m not gonna gobble up five gigs a month doing that.

For my 2023 tried the Android Auto connection via USB connection. Tried everything by the book. Nothing. So had dealer do the chore. At first they had troubles. But after few pushing buttons, icons, finally got cell phone linked up. And gotta say love it. I wear hearing aid and cannot hear well thru phone Mickey mouse speaker. But Google voice direction comes in loud n clear over truck’s speakers. That I like.

Apparently, the "Connectivity Package" contents vary by the model/trim according to the order guide if I'm reading it correctly 🤷‍♂️

https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...force-system-browser=1&force-system-browser=1

FORD CONNECTIVITY PACKAGE (One-time purchase – 7 years)1 – (91D) Availability:
● Opt. on XL, XLT, Lobo, Lariat and Tremor

Ford Connectivity Package includes (features may vary by make and model): XL, XLT and Lobo (402A)
● Unlimited Wi-Fi Hotspot
● Audio and Video Streaming
● Voice Assistant
● Entertainment

Lobo (702A), Lariat and Tremor®
● Unlimited Wi-Fi Hotspot
Connected Navigation
● Audio and Video Streaming
● Voice Assistant
● Entertainment

1 Select option for a one-time purchase of Ford Connectivity Package. Ford Connectivity Package will be active for 7 years on this vehicle (non-transferrable to another VIN) from warranty start date. Requires activation via Ford app. Not available for fleet orders. Evolving technology/cellular networks/vehicle capability may limit functionality and prevent operation of connected features. Ford may temporarily slow data speeds if such data usage reaches or exceeds 50GB within a billing cycle or due to network limitations. If a customer uses more than 50% of their data usage in a roaming country during a 60-day period, Ford may remove or limit the customer’s data plan.
Interesting and good to know.

Wonder how many sales people push you on needing that Connectivity package (despite 1st year free still, maybe?), and you discover later wrong trim to even get the Navigation part.

That would be annoying if you actually desired it because you'd use the other features too.

I haven't had a PC, laptop or tablet for years the phone is the only way for me.
So that you're not repeating postings. You can edit and even delete postings from your phone pretty easily once you get the neck of it.
If you tap on report the lower left it will have a drop-down menu on your post that shows that you can edit or delete.
Looks like this

I don’t see it on my screen, but I’m at work right now. I don’t have a lot of time to put into it. I’ll check it out this evening, but thanks.

On an android at least, you can go into google maps and select areas to save to storage or SDcard. Some detail is lost, like POI, but all the street names are in there. Then it should theoretically not be downloading ALL the data all the time, just those POI things and traffic details. But you can also turn data off, get no traffic updates etc and it still works. Usually a year before the maps expire, so you could keep a cheapy Android in the vehicle just for google maps navigation, no SIM card and just update it over wifi once in a while. Doesn't even need to be a phone, but needs GPS radio, and possibly a bit of a mess around to get android auto on it.

I have gone to an ebay Garmin model - an older one that came with lifetime free upgrades. Have not hooked it up yet, but it is on the agenda. Meanwhile, my wife changed out phone plan so she has unlimited data, so when we are together, we just use that. I was a little let down to run into this via phone only setup - my Mazda 3 has a great free Nav that I assumed the Maverick would have.

Just something to keep in mind, I believe you need to continue to update your Garmin every year to keep the free updates going.

I don't remember exactly, but not updating for 18 to 24 months and they will think it isn't being used and suddenly no more updates.

I use ours when we are on the road as a backup for areas with no cell service, so keep it updated every 6 months, especially in June!

Have a good one,

Andy

The Ford Connectivity Package does not include Navigation on the XLT. I don't believe Navigation is an option at all on the XLT.
This is correct. NAV is included with the Lariat but not XLT.
