Maverick Totaled Serious Injuries

Major accident here in New York caused by a speeding suspended motorist. Maverick was pulling out from a parking spot when motorist slammed into the rear left side dragging the maverick into the intersection then hitting two other vehicles. Three occupants suffered critical injuries with the rear occupant put on a ventilator who might not survive. Maverick owner had the truck for only a week and half I was told. Very sad.

Not sure what point you're trying to make here. Accidents happen and injuries will result depending on a number of factors, including speed at time of impact, size of vehicles involved , occupancy, seatbelt etc ... maybe you just saw a maverick on the news in an accident and rushed to post it to be 'first'

The Maverick received a 5/5 rating for side crash tests, as well as other crash tests with the lowest being a 4/5.

It's local, happening news for OP so I think they just wanted to share seeing the Maverick.

If you want to see a truly dumb comment, watch the end of this news video. I got curious and found a news story with video of the speeding car coming down the street, but then at the end, after all that, the reporter says "to add to all of the chaos, there was a movie shoot happening nearby". And that's how the story ends . Now that's a comment that deserves to be judged.

I can't seem to find the news report on this however I hope all the individuals in the vehicle are not too seriously injured as stated. Speeding in urban areas and unlicensed operators seems to be a problem here and all over the country. I am not concerned about the Maverick. The people in the vehicle are the story. Wish them well.

Is the side airbag recall for the front or back seat?

The side airbag assembly services both the front and rear rows. Although the specific area that failed qualification standards was the driver's front lower quadrant. Actually not sure if the NHTSA tests for the rear; I know the IIHS has started to push into doing more rear seat occupant crash testing.

As bad as the injuries sound there is a good chance that their new Maverick did better in the crash than whatever car they had before the Maverick.

The Maverick has 7 airbags but for us the old Tacoma it replaced only had 2.

Agreed the rear passenger got the worst of it because she may have hit her head on rear glass and vehicle was stuck from behind. Front passengers were in better shape even after the vehicle was dragged into intersection into another oncoming vehicle.

Not to mention there was plywood at least in the bed maybe other things pushed into the front bed wall towards her.
