Another foot in mouth comment happened on TV a couple weeks ago.

A middle school boy was given a hero's award for stopping a moving bus when the driver passed out. Nice. A "feel good" story.

At the televised news conference, Dad says "I'm not surprised my boy was capable of doing this. I've been letting him drive since he was like 9."

That my late Dad, started driving the Farm's Farmall (Tractor) when he was eight. That would have been 1934, and back than, you did what you had to do..
It helped him, when he went into the service. They sent him, straight to the "Motorpool".

I lost 3 friends to something like this but the driver was drunk.

Lock em up and throw away the key. Driving on a suspended license, no insurance, etc etc... should be a felony with HUGE penalties especially if something like this happens.

I hope they all recover and I hope that other driver rots. No sympathy.

Agreed, I'm a "You do you" kind of person until it impacts other people. As someone who will never touch alcohol in their life for religious purposes, I don't have a problem with people knocking back a few on their couch. But the second someone gets behind the wheel, I lose basically all sympathy for them.

Thank God for Ford engineers, that was a really bad crash, but hopefully everyone ends up walking away. Glad to see how safe the maverick is, just hope I never need it.

Total bummer. I always try to learn from tragedy. Green lights are nice, but I always look each way for any cocksuckers who are looking to run their red. At night and on the weekends I'm double vigilant. I'm constantly looking bow, stern, starboard and port, then double checking. On the highway, I'm constantly sizing up the rear view. One hand on the horn, one hand "on-the-pump", I say. Call me the "Billy the Kid" of pre-emptive honking. Not everything can be avoided, but so far my only accident in 25 years is when I rear ended somebody while lighting a joint 20 years ago. Since then it's been park-and-spark.

My Dad grew up on a farm in NYS. He was born in 1920. He drove a pickup around the farm well before he could legally drive on the road. Or so the story goes.

I did not grow up on a farm. So I could not drive around a farm. But as soon as I got my lerner’s permit at age 16, my Dad spent countless hours in the family car with me driving. I always thought I learned from the best.

It's local, happening news for OP so I think they just wanted to share seeing the Maverick.

If you want to see a truly dumb comment, watch the end of this news video. I got curious and found a news story with video of the speeding car coming down the street, but then at the end, after all that, the reporter says "to add to all of the chaos, there was a movie shoot happening nearby". And that's how the story ends . Now that's a comment that deserves to be judged.

I seen that on the news too. Thought that was a bit strange when I heard it. He was talking about the area traffic. Like who cares.
