When my Ecoboost first arrived, I hated all the shifting in NORMAL mode. For six months I used ECO, because it very much calmed down the transmission and reflected how I drove my manuals for the last fifty years (get it into high gear ASAP). Lately I'm more able to tune out the transmission and I tend to stay in normal.

I'll be glad when the right BEV for me arrives. Because then transmissions will become a thing of the past - just a reduction unit that doesn't shift. Pure linear power, with max torque at the low end.

In the XL and XLT, you only get this screen when you turn your truck off. Please give me detail instructions if i am wrong. I would love to have This Trip available to me whenever I want it.
It should give it to you when you turn off the Maverick. Now, read the manual if that screen does not pop up for you when you turn off the Maverick off.

Ford probably could not figure out how to make reliable software updates needed across all the drive modes that would enable selection to remain the default until changed. If they do one then they would have to do all.

Obviously Ford did not believe a "durable" selection was needed when planning the vehicle and became a practical impossibility after going into production.

I have to remember to use ECO mode each time in my hybrid which is somewhat annoying. I had an ecoboost before the hybrid and did not like the feel of driving in eco mode. Within the hybrid I do not really notice any difference in driving dynamics. So I plan to use eco mode until some meaningful data emerges that would suggest it does not make any significant difference in MPG.

Really love the gas mileage in my hybrid now that the summer weather and summer gas are here in Wisconsin.

Have any of you tried 'Sport' mode? It reminds me of driving 1of my previous vehicles -- bmw325i (no joke) & I've noticed mpg only went 41.5 to 41.3...this truck is amazing!!!
Any drive mode is more how you drive than in which mode. In slippery it's fairly easy at 37-52 (+/-?) mph to get 60-70mpg.

Agree totally. 5 buttons to push each and every time I start the truck. One (OK button) so I don't have to wait for that annoying seal belt display to time out (can we eliminate that display with FORscan?), then 4 more to change from Normal to Eco driving mode. Ford could have done better by "remembering" the last setting used and using that mode on the next startup. My son's 2023 Toyota Corolla behaves that way. Hey Ford, if you're listening, how about a software upgrade with this memory mode feature?

One would think. If you buy a Hybrid that economy gas millage is a key factor & with that in mind Ford should had been smarter that the start up would be in ECO mode.

For a year now I thought I was driving in eco mode since I selected that mode in the beginning. I was thrilled with my 42.3 overall mpg! Thanks to this great group I recently learned I was mistaken and need to select eco every time I start my truck (what a pain😖). I was sure selecting eco mode wouldn’t make any difference so I decided to test my theory.

I drive 6 miles every day to walk at a park so I drove in normal one day and eco another day. Yes, temps were different but I don’t think that would make a big difference. Same speeds and here are what I consider amazing results. I plan on driving in eco mode from now on, if I can remember to set it🫤 Maybe the difference is only this great in town so I plan on testing it out for my 454 mile trip in a couple weeks.

If you like Eco you will love slippery mode. (One fewer press)

Slippery is the calmest, coolest, smoothest of all modes.

Coasting is key to high MPG.
This baby glides for miles and miles in slippery mode.

Back out of garage, turn mav into direction of travel, think "I am in Maverick", put in drive, tap the selector and count 3-2-1 push the pedal and think "GO". Do it every time you will be slippery driving. Of course then you will have to solve the problem if you want a different drive mode of how to get there.

I thought slippery mode was for rain or snow. I have been reading more about folks driving in slippery rather than normal and I’m ready to try it. Have you found it advantageous in road trips or in town driving?

It's mainly for in town.
Get up to the speed limit, take foot gas for 1 second (and in slippery you won't slow down enough for anyone behind to notice) then use gentle EV to maintain current speed, or coast no foot on either pedal until you near the red light or maybe it turns green for you.

The biggest benefit is LACK of slowing down when you take your foot off the pedal.

If you take your foot off the gas in Eco, it will annoy those behind you. In Slippery it won't. It's just a name. Nothing major changes just regen and throttle are gentle. To keep you on the ice. 😎

That would seem to be logical...except you get the best efficiency in slippery mode in most circumstances.

Doesn't bother me, but I have noticed that my wife never bothers switching the modes (no matter how many times I say something).

It is good in rain and snow because it is the LEAST AGGRESSIVE acceleration and braking mode. Just a different point and rate of acceleration and braking. It greatly reduces Regen braking so the truck will coast much further. Of interest if you want to increase Regen braking for one stop just push the L button for low. At somewhere around 50mph the "slippery with low activated" will Regen brake over 95% and not activate hydraulic brakes. I am guessing that if one particular tire loses traction ie "slips". The computer will activate it's anti skid program but most likely that will happen in any drive mode. The slippery drive mode will be the least likely to initiate slipping. If for no other reason driving in slippery cruise on mode will display how much acceleration (up to 45% power) for a very short time and dropping back into electric mode will train you how to accelerate. Slippery in cruise at 40-45 mph when you push resume of cruise will demonstrate this very well. Then try to drive that way.

No problem with seeing the screen when I turn off the engine.

Maybe she is trying to tell you she is slippery enough. 😏
