In the XL and XLT, you only get this screen when you turn your truck off. Please give me detail instructions if i am wrong. I would love to have This Trip available to me whenever I want it.

When you're in park, go to menu and settings and you can select or unselect screens. (See page 116? in the owner manual)

Possibly more charging/ discharging. He didn't say for sure ECO will affect anything, he was asking.
True and true. I have no idea but seems like more cycles on the battery in ECO. We're talking years of all ECO mode here too.

One thing I'd say is the Maverick does not coast. I have to babysit the throttle down hills, which gets annoying even in Normal mode. I live in rolling Piedmont terrain, so it's constant up and down. I'm used to coasting down and giving gas only on the way up. In ECO mode, it's worse and more annoying. Shouldn't have to goose it downhill. I know it's a Hybrid, but ECO has too much regen for me.

Have you tried Normal in Low gear, but this might be best going down steep hills? Also, what happens with cruise control on? (You might best see this with EV Coach on your display.)

But good comment. I’ll start experimenting today. Thanks.

Put it in "slippery". In "eco" the regen brakes kick in too fast, not allowing the truck to coast down hills. The truck generally gets the highest fuel efficiency in slippery mode. There have been multiple threads about it and my experience confirms it.

This has been a very informative thread, thanks to all the contributors. Nice to hear from the long time C-Max owners in particular.

I have tried all the modes. Normal gives me amazing efficiency.
Sport Mode makes me grin.

Does using ECO make your Mav feel more sluggish vs driving in Normal?
This, exactly. I drive a Cmax for my job and when I get in and someone's changed it to ECO, it's the first thing I do, turn that crap off! Makes the thing so sluggish feeling to me, I prefer the pep of how it operate without.

For a year now I thought I was driving in eco mode since I selected that mode in the beginning. I was thrilled with my 42.3 overall mpg! Thanks to this great group I recently learned I was mistaken and need to select eco every time I start my truck (what a pain😖). I was sure selecting eco mode wouldn’t make any difference so I decided to test my theory.

I drive 6 miles every day to walk at a park so I drove in normal one day and eco another day. Yes, temps were different but I don’t think that would make a big difference. Same speeds and here are what I consider amazing results. I plan on driving in eco mode from now on, if I can remember to set it🫤 Maybe the difference is only this great in town so I plan on testing it out for my 454 mile trip in a couple weeks.

Try slippery mode and report back.

Hey Eco mode people. Please update us down to road on how long your HVB lasts running in Eco mode all the time.

It will be Normal mode for me. If cruise control is on (highway) or there is extra heavy traffic, I may try Eco.
If there is heavy traffic try eco and low or slippery and low

Try slippery mode to maximize coasting. Slippery in cruise is amazing. After using slippery cruise for awhile learn to mimick it without cruise for the areas where cruise is to cumbersome to engage/disengage. Fast acceleration using up to about 40-45% power in short time then drop to electric in slippery, of course. When in slippery cruise at 55-65mph disengage cruise then push low button to maximize Regen braking without engaging hydraulic brakes and then use pedal to increase Regen when speed is low enough to not engage hydraulics.

Since I see you have a hybrid CMax please correct me if I’m wrong in thinking I put it in eco mode the first time and didn’t have to change it every time. Mine was a 2013 which was 3 vehicles ago and 10 memory years!
UPDATE: turns out I was a liar. The ECO mode we are referencing is only a cruise control setting that adjusts acceleration to maximize efficiency. There is also an ev+ mode which is supposed to "learn" our common locations to determine when it can switch over to EV mode to maximize battery usage.

Have any of you tried 'Sport' mode? It reminds me of driving 1of my previous vehicles -- bmw325i (no joke) & I've noticed mpg only went 41.5 to 41.3...this truck is amazing!!!

So we have a 2015 CMAX Energi PHEV. The bigger electric motor, and bigger battery, keep the car running very peppy in all-electric mode clear up to 65mph.

It's a very nice "preview" of how a PHEV Mav would work. The 7.6kwh battery gives about 20miles all electric. If a PHEV Mav ever comes (remember the spy shots, there is some indication that this might happen eventually) I'll be upgrading. Hopefully it has 10kwh of HVB.
