The government is pending a shut down if the debt ceiling increase for the fiscal year 22 budget isn’t approved today. Hopefully this doesn’t happen as the EPA would be unable to approve the Ford Maverick Hybrid during the shutdown.
That isn't how it works in all cases.

I am a Gov't contractor, and I've yet to be affected by any of the BS shutdowns.

It all depends an the funding structure of the contracts involved.

Though, a shutdown could definitely throw a wrench into the mix.

Sure it isn’t how it works in all cases, there is always an exception. Good for you not being affected. I’ve been hit by all of them in the last 15 years.

I meant no offense to those who have been affected.

So every budget we have a government shutdown threat  Yawn... Lucid, a startup EV maker just got EPA rating and they're going to start selling/delivering in October. Ford is 118yr old company, existed before EPA. If this doesn't get EPA rating its all on FORD... not like its their first rodeo 😒

Ordered today with 3 to 4 month wait time, shortly after I get a message from the dealer saying, government has not approved the hybrid and it will be at least 7 months.

Also with wait being so long don't forget to get on the ford X pricing it can save around 1,000 on 30,000 price. Google it of if you need info on how to get it ask. I got it for 25 dollars. Make sure your dealer accepts it.

This misinformation keeps being repeated. The EPA doesn't need to approve anything. Automakers test their own cars according to the SAE standard and provide the numbers to the EPA.

"My dealership said" is the equivalent of "My momma's ex-boyfriend's sister's neighbor's hairdresser said.." :)
Between MTC and B6G, I'm sure a lot of us have seen statements where dealerships say things that are incorrect either because they don't know or they want you to get something they get a higher margin from selling.

How Vehicles Are Tested (fueleconomy.gov) the manufacturer does it using approved methods, but the EPA may want to verify them at their testing laboratory - about 1 in 6 get verified this way - also noted on the page.

But, the fact that hybrid window stickers are popping means they expect to have those numbers approved soon. They don't intentionally schedule building vehicles they can't ship. You usually only see delays from production to delivery if a disaster happens like the top thing on the Broncos or chip shortage thing, neither of which should affect the Maverick.

I would check the link @clavicus notes to see when the hybrid shows up. You should see hybrids start shipping very soon after that.

If that were me, I would check with another dealership. It sounds like that dealer may be trying to push you into an EcoBoost engine.
It's a nice upcharge for the EcoBoost.

I heavily doubt what your dealer said. Another dealer near me has Hybrids scheduled for production any day now

Funny I was just at my dealer yesterday and checking on my order and looking to see when they may be receiving their initial delivery. I had found out that they were expecting 5 units. Yesterday I saw the order sheet and all 5 in transit and one (1) was a hybrid XLT.
Expected to arrive sometime next week I think. These were all retail orders and none dealer stock.

Yes, that is accurate, but you are reading it wrong. I don't think anyone understands the terms used and is quick to blame "The EPA". It takes a day to test a car at the lab if it is chosen to be tested, not months.

https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/how_tested.shtml

" Fuel economy is measured under controlled conditions in a laboratory using a series of tests specified by federal law. Manufacturers test their own vehicles—usually pre-production prototypes—and report the results to EPA. EPA reviews the results and confirms about 15%–20% of them through their own tests at the National Vehicles and Fuel Emissions Laboratory. "
