I ordered the Curt version of the wiring harness just a few minutes ago. It looked the same as the link earlier in this thread, so hopefully I won’t have to splice and cross the red/brown and brown to red wires.

I’m usually “mechanically and electronically challenged”, so I might have to go back to the hitch shop that put my crash bar/hitch on.

Why go back to that shop? Was it not them that already said it could not be done?

If you're dealer isnt a jack azz it wont void anything.

Theres no damage done by a correct splice for trailer lights.
By splicing into existing wires you would be adding additional electrical load to a computer monitored circuit causing it to believe something was wrong. (Would it put maverick into limp mode or what???). Install something like that you have to run a new 12v line to power trailer made by Curt. Monitors existing tail lights and then duplicates their actions to trailer using power from new hot wire you ran.

True, these newer vehicles are one big computer on wheels; cutting into wires is definitely riskier than it used to be.

I picked up my maverick as a customer backed out of the order. I picked it up way back in October and added the trailer hitch and 4 pin harness. I've been waiting for months. I drop it off Friday and they are sending my truck off at a trailer hitch shop and they are going to make a harness. So fingers crossed. I will keep you guys updated as what they do.

Awesome!! Do you have a link to the part you ordered?

Do you have a pic of the 4-pin connector on the hitch/receiver? Or does it just dangle underneath the hitch?

Are there any other wires to connect anywhere else?
What happened to your comment about "throwing against the wall and seeing if it sticks" ?

I took better advice from someone else here and did what he did. It worked. It stuck to the wall.

BS aftermarket market adapter obviously works. Would be nice for someone with an OE MAV equipped with hitch to look under truck. Diagram shows some sort of box shape device near left rear. Plenty of room under the Mav to look. I have a BS but under there is very limited in where you can see.

I have to thank finallygotamaverick for his ingenuity!! With his lead, I ordered the Curt BS wiring harness. I had it installed yesterday. And just like his, the brown and red wires on the harness needed to be spliced and switched to make everything work properly.

And for “Negative Nancy” out there that says “you should have added the tow hitch when you ordered your Maverick”, some of us are still waiting on our orders to go into production. I, like others here, picked up a Maverick that a customer ordered, but canceled their order. The person that ordered the Maverick I have didn’t need towing capabilities. I do. I make raised bed garden boxes and deliver them to customers with my 5’ x 8’ utility trailer.

I ordered a hybrid XLT with CP360 and the lux pkg on 19 Oct, which is now five months ago. I was called by my dealer and they read the Ford bulletin about removing the CP and lux. I refused to, and was told the regional office won’t even look at my build unless I remove them. I was lucky enough to find this XL hybrid to get me by until whatever year my build is produced.

BCM now controls output to lights, if it’s drawing too much power, BCM will shut it down. You can reset it withOBD reader a few times then it damages the BCM.
Ask me how I know.

I know this thread started a year ago. Is this still the case? Just got a 2023 XL a few weeks ago without trailer hitch & need to have one installed ASAP

Go with the curt aftermarket relay setup and don't worry about it. They have the maverick model now (the red and brown wires are pre switched 😇 In a manner of speaking). Nothing you can due about it but the BCM will not be electrically notified that a trailer is attached so some functions may not happen unless the computer can figure out there is a trailer attached using the tilt and additional torque needed etc. Tow Haul mode will be more than sufficient and may actually be what the computer uses when it sees a trailer on an OEM setup.

Did you make that plate or does somebody sell them now
