Ford trailer hitch and wiring harness for aftermarket install

So I recently switch from the stand-alone hitch to the LUX package. I really want a hitch and was under the impression there was no way to get the wiring harness after-market that was Ford-approved. But after talking to someone on Facebook I found a wiring harness for the ford maverick on the ford accessory page. It is $125. The hitch is listed as $336. And then there are installation costs. Pretty steep price if you ask me. I think I will stick with the LUX package. But good to know where is an after-market option now.

Yes we researched this as well. It’s also not a simple install. How Ford can sell it for just over $100 is great. Too bad it’s a constraint.

Easy install, nothing to do it. Maybe an hour for the hitch and a bit longer for the wiring harness. Straight forward. What's not simple about it?
