It's a redesign, obviously, but oof: "The price of the entry-level XL model will start at $34,160, up roughly 18% from $27,400 for the current model. The Ranger Raptor raises the top-end starting price for the vehicle by 34%."

This is why price protection for Mav rollovers would be the right thing to do, though I'm not holding my breath. My guess is Ford raises Maverick XL prices by around 10% in 24.

Price protection would mean Ford's costs go up but they sell a not very profitable truck at last year's prices. Does not seem practical or likely. Ford got no return on the older orders.

Paying a few extra grand because Ford forgot how to manufacture vehicles is a tough pill to swallow though. And I doubt the cost of their parts goes up $2-3k from Sept 23 to Oct 23 when the switchover happens.

What with new min wage (matters because the guys that were making 1.25%,1.6%,etc of the OLD min wage now want the same ratio of the NEW min wage. Will take 3-5 years for it all to happen.) It would be reasonable to expect 2/3 of the 18% to 34% to be for the maverick due to the maverick not being refreshed. What with new features coming out and sheer number of chips in vehicles that further complicates cost projections for manufactures. I wonder when the NEW glued to inside of tires TPMS will happen how much chip upgrade and additional chips will happen and at what cost? But, hey it will be nice to see things like how many lbs of load each tire is carrying and what the tire manufacturer recommends for this weight. How many rotations the tire has made in each direction and at what position on vehicle. Milage warranty adjustment for misuse. What temperatures has the tire experienced?, Etc.

It think the redesign has more standard features than the prior version. Thus making the price increase not unwarranted. The Ranger will also be that base truck for a lot of people who think the Maverick is just a modern el Camino and can't afford an F-150 (something actually said to me by someone waiting on the new Ranger).

Prices will come down when demand comes down. Right now we're in this unprecedented place where used cars are also priced out of reach. Once ordinary working-class people start shifting to used cars rather than buying overpriced new ones you'll see the new car lots getting fuller and we'll eventually be back to clearance sales.

Speaking for myself this Mav may have been the last new car for me.

I always thought the El Camino was pretty cool tbh. Probably why the Maverick appeals to me, lol.

To each their own. But I know a lot of people where the Maverick is a non-starter based on its looks and capabilities. To them, the Ranger would be the smallest truck.

Also Supercrew only so more comparable to a $29,585 '23 XL starting price.

I personally don’t like the look of the Ranger and think the Maverick looks a lot better. The Ranger looks like a squished F150.

Not only a price increase for all 2024 Maverick trims but also making the now standard hybrid power train about a $2,200 option. Just my $.02.

Pretty sure ford already stated long ago no price protection or rollovers for MY23 to MY24, it’s a start over from scratch, but guess there’s a small remote chance they might change that but highly doubt it.

A similarly priced Toyota Corolla LE price difference between gas and hybrid is $1,350, from $21,700 to $23,050 plus destination. The difference in mpg goes from 35 mpg combined to 50 mpg combined.

So at $3.50 a gallon, will take 45,000 miles to break even excluding any other cost differences.

My wife owned a Corolla when we got married. It was one of the 1998-2002 generation (considered the worst quality-wise of more recent Corolla generations), but she drove it 18 years and around 215,000 miles before we needed a minivan, so it had to go.

I expect Ford to raise prices - I'm waiting to see that before I decide whether to reorder a 2024 or buy a competitor with a better reputation for quality.

Talking about Ranger prices... has anyone heard anything through the grapevine or rumor mill indicating what (if any) the 24MY Maverick will do in price? I assume go up, but any leaks on how much?

Me personally, knows it sucks to pay more for a vehicle I never got this whole year, but I feel a $500-1k increase I could live with...any more than that, I would feel a bit screwed over....if there still is no rollover/price protection. My 23 would now be a brand new 24...and I can live with $500 or so for that.

About $2,200 of the increase was the loss of the base supercab. Comparing the 2023 base crew cab to the same in 2024 it is a $3,080 increase year over year for the same cab. Considering the massive updates for 2024 Rangers, and that we expect the 2024 Maverick to be 99% the same as 2023, I would say $1,500-$2,000 would be the bump for next year.
