Hoping maybe someone out there has converted from a non-sliding rear glass to a sliding after the fact.

My Maverick doesn’t have the slider, but my rear glass is cracked and needs replaced. Safelite just told me that if I didn’t have the slider from the factory they can’t replace it with the slider now as they can’t guarantee the glass will fit correctly. That doesn’t seem right to me.

I can find this Ford Part number which is the rear sliding glass w/o power. NZ6Z6042006A

Any ideas? Seems like it would work but maybe Safelite is right?

For reference I have a 2022 XLT AWD.

Thanks.

Are you asking if the Ford electric sliding window can be put in? ..or something else?

Safelight sucks, they wont replace your windshield if you have a rusty bumper. When I roadtripped a 1980 AMC Eagle with a broken windshield, I was turned down by safelights all across the country. But I had to get it fixed to put it on the boat to Maui. So when I was in Denver I found a glass warehouse just south of downtown Denver, and took it to a Mexican rund glass shop south west of downtown. It was on a main drag straight north of a walmart. They had absolutely no problem installing it for us. We just rolled up with the glass in the backseat and they did the rest. I think it was about $200-250?

I believe there's a manual slide window option below lariat. Can't recall the order info when I got mine but I think it was there as an add-on.

I know for lariat it's power and by default.

I don’t know if maybe the inside trim is different as I can’t imagine what else could cause not to be swapped - just my opinion however they may know better? Mine has the manual slider and I’ve only used it a few times and I like it helps flow with the moonroof open.

That’s a good thought on the inside trim. I might see if I can find a local Maverick that has the manual slider and look at the interior. I’m just looking to add the manual slider to my XLT as it didn’t come with it when new. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, I’m only looking for the manual slider as I have an XLT. I’ve found the manual slider from Ford. Now I’m just trying to see if it’s able to be installed in my Maverick. Thanks for the response.

Just the basic manual slider from Ford even though my Maverick came from the factory without the sliding rear window.

That’s a good thought. I might try some other glass shops. Thanks.

Depending on where you are, your welcome to come take a peek at my rear window. I have the manual slider. I am up in the Thornton area (home) or Louisville (work)

I have the manual slider. There is plastic trim at the bottom that extends upwards at both ends that follows the shape of the track. It is nothing like the glass in older Rangers where the rubber seal held the glass in place. From appearances, the glass appears to be installed from the outside, like the fixed glass that sits on a bead of butyl(?) and is glued. I am not going to dig in to see...

Non-sliding rear window is cracked? Are you trying to get it fixed and have your car insurer pay for it? If so, Safelite is likely to only replace exactly what you have to meet their arrangement with the insurer. I can't image that Mavs with and without sliders are built any differently. From a production standpoint, that just doesn't make any sense. The slider is worth pursuing. I transport long sticks of baseboard and crown molding by sticking them through the window [I put a block on the seatback so nothing rests on the glass] Plus, the ability to control flow-through ventilation, particularly in the Lariat with the power rear window and sunroof. I hardly use A/C. My 2016 GMC Canyon had a manual slider and I seldom used it because it was inconvenient.
