Canada - Anyone traded their Maverick in or sold?

Hey Canadian friends, I'm in Ontario, and I took over a Hybrid order that was similar to mine, with the sunroof rather than the lux package. I just got word that my original order is being built in June. I'd like to know if anyone has any experience trading their Maverick in in a similar situation, or sold privately. I hate to be a guy selling it on kijiji at a markup, but if the dealer won't do straight across or better, I need to at least clear what I paid in taxes. I'm a tall guy, and the power seats and more headroom would make this a much better car for me.

This dealer is fantastic, no hassle, and hasn't been marking up new cars, BUT i have seen them add 4-6k to their used cars (one Maverick in particular). I'd really like to make this easy and I'm thinking I should be able to ask for a fairly even deal given the market, but I want to be prepared to make a solid case.

Given for how much second hand Mavericks are listed for up here, I suspect you'd get a bare minimum MSRP, likely more. How much will depend on the dealer. Also get quotes from other places and see if they will match a better offer if you get one.

That’s kinda what I’m figuring on. It’s incredible to me that there’s still a Wild West with pricing for this truck in Canada, I would have thought it’d have died down by now.

A very limited supply of Mavericks are coming to Canada. I know for MY22 my dealer was getting 1-3 a month! This year, just from looking some months they get none. Ownership did change, so that may affect alloations (and now they are putting 10k markups on all new vehicles, which the old owner was not).

Yes, I feel like I jumped the line a bit - Sept 19 '22 order. I see your order is pretty similar to mine! I actually just bought a hitch this past week like a day before my dealer called me, planning a trip out east with a little teardrop, and heading out right about when #2 is supposed to come in. Figured at this point my order likely wouldn't get built, and hitches are on back-order, and then suddenly it's getting built in June!

Ask your dealer for a quote, then go to another FORD dealer and just say you'd like to order another MAV (top[ of the line) for 2024 but you need to get rid of this one to buy your girlfriend an engagement ring (worth at least three mavericks), and after the wedding you'd tell her you sold your truck ,"can I get another?" Your sweetheart will say yes, they'll roll over and give you another number (MRSP. Work from here...)

Congrats.... definitely intrested to know how you make out trading or selling.

In Ontario you can benefit from trade in being pretax so you don't have to pay HST on the trade value. If you cN get the amount of your new mav for your trade, you won't have to pay additional tax.

I have a XL but want to reorder my XLT Lux for MY24.... I took the mav I can get to hold me over until I can get what I want.

Some day I may be in the same boat . I ordered an XL 4K 400W in December 2021 . A couple months ago I went to a different dealer and ordered a Tremor. Two days later I get a call and a VIN for the first truck . That truck the XL is now built and supposed to be at the dealer on May 15 . Have you looked into selling it into the US , exchange rate is high right now ? Do those big company buyers that pay way over MSRP over there purchase Canadian trucks ? Please keep us posted how you make out . I am also in Ontario .Thanks

Yeah, that's why I'm favouring a trade-in, I'm hopeful that I can get them to just trade it at MSRP and have it cost me nothing. That may be pie-in-the-sky to hope for from a dealer, but considering that they are marking up their used inventory, it might work out.

Oddly it wouldn't show the price, all thier inventory is contact for price.

2022 Lariat msrp was $35,400 CAD... so that's quit a hike for being 2/3 of warranty millage..... I am sure you can find a new 2023 Lariat for at least $10,000 less
