Do you guys feel like you get much better Mpg in Eco mode then normal mode? I feel like acceleration is slower but it still quick thanks!

I don't think it does anything. I have always tested eco mode in my cars and found it didn't really make a huge difference in mpg and was not worth the lack of power.

Er... lack of acceleration.

Pretty sure what really changes is acceleration rates per millimeter of pedal press.

I'd love to see a side by side drag race where both parties floor it, one in normal, one in eco.

at 100% pedal press they may actually be equal

I feel like with eco mode I am more of a heavy foot than with regular mode because of decrease in power.

I found eco mode quite useful , there's a trick to it. You have to game the transmission with subtle foot movements when getting to cruising speeds , when I achieve say 55 ( or 70 fwy) on a rural road I pep the acceleration into the next gear then ease off and hold the rpms ... I use the mpg gauge and peg it at max every time I'd drive. Same can be done in other modes but not as easy to maintain. Just my experience Keyword subtle...its like a video game lol. Try it, you can thank me latter.

Cheers

I think it just maps out the throttle to a larger accelerator pedal angle. Less throttle angle to accelerator angle. It does give you more pedal control to stay in electric mode.

I would think they are equal, with a more dramatic curve as the pedal pressure increases.

I know on my CRV, along with changing the throttle mapping it also changes how often the AC compressor cycles on. Eco on that is usually only useful for cruising at hwy speeds and on flat ground. otherwise, due to throttle mapping, it seems to get worse mpgs.

One thing I notice in Eco mode on my hybrid is that the regen when you release the accelerator is greater. There is a short, steep hill I go down every day on my way home from work and if I release the accelerator in normal mode, I barely lose 5 mph, but in eco, I will easily lose 10 mph.

I'm thinking Eco mode might be good for teaching the kids to drive.
