and then this happened. Stopped in a parking lot waiting for a guy to back into a spot and WAM! a woman backed into me. It's worse than the pictures let on. $3800+ in damages. Bad news is it will be July or August before I can get it in.

In all seriousness - This is my first new vehicle in 25 years of driving. As I enter a parking lot, my instinct is to find the first spot in an empty corner and back in. I do NOT head for the middle of the lot. I'll walk.

The average driver is catastrophically shitty at actual driving. I never ceased to be amazed at just HOW bad people are at driving. At least the damage is minor and it isn't going to be a lost vehicle.

When I am bored, I watch Stupid Driver videos on YouTube thru my smart TV. I have changed my way of driving in certain situations and developed a new sense of situational awareness.
Now, I EXPECT the other car to move into my lane, and take two or three lanes to turn a corner. Riding a motorcycle also taught me years ago that I am invisible.

I've done that and gone to the furthest part of a lot where no one was parked. Walked to the store and when I came out sure enough some junker is parked right next to me. In a couple cases I had a small dent and pant on my door. In two of those cases I met the driver by waiting for him to return to his vehicle. Ended up no insurance and not worht my deductible to report so I got one of those dent pullers and took care of it myself.

I'm telling You! My co-worker is horrible! He always always always speeds, even when he's not in a rush to get somewhere; he takes both hands off the wheel to pick at his fingernails constantly and lets the truck drift all over. He stops 3' behind other vehicles at stoplights; he stops waaaay past the crosswalk lines at intersections; he drives with the left tires well over the center lines and lane lines. And he drives several blocks, before latching his seatbelt; he takes his seatbelt off to dig his phone out of his pocket while driving; at the parts store, he parks perpendicular to the damn parking space lines! When I kindly try to point out his bad driving habits, he gets annoyed and makes lame excuses, like there's nobody else in the lane beside me. There's also tailgating, running yellow, pink, and even red lights. Today he braked hard to stop at a yellow light (because he was speeding). He actually said, "I should have just went for it". I said no you shouldn't have. He said, the guy beside (and behind us) did. The light was red when that prick entered the intersection!! Am I fucked in the head?? I just needed to vent that, thanks
