As I said, this discussion started because someone said the source of the misinformation was from "ford fanboys," when it comes from the current documentation supplied by Hyundai. My objection was to someone thinking anyone seeing that warning was at fault for believing it.

Regardless of whether it's true, you should be asking why Hyundai is still printing this warning still long after they've "clarified" it. And your issue should be with Hyundai continuing to put it out there.

They explained it you just want to ignore it and go on a tirade about it. Not only has Hyundai explained it , but various owners who know how to do math explained it as well. No need to change anything when you know the warning is a result of taking weight away from the number for passengers. They explained it and I posted the same "coincidence" when I took 750 pounds of passengers out of the payload which Hyndai tried to explain on the same page. A little common sense never hurts.

What's the bed payload with only a 200 lb driver onboard?

On my SEL 4WD based upon the door sticker and a 200 pound driver it would be 1211 payload remaining.

I gave you Hyundai's response to this question so I'm letting it do the talking. Obviously a video where the moderator reads the answer from Hyundai where they explain it and said an empty truck that has 1411 on the door sticker is 1411 pounds and that 1411 pounds can be all in the bed. If you put weight in the cab you subtract the weight you added from it and you can carry that in the back. I don't know if you are just being arbitrary or are just slow but Hyundai explained how they got to the 661. Should they update their Manual to take what they wrote and add it to the manual ..yes they should.... but since they have stated what the truck can haul should be good enough. If you remember the Maverick Manual also suffered from some inaccuracy. The Maverick brochure also suffered with inaccuracy. They had the wrong sized lug nuts for the wheels, they still say you can get a full size tire option as two examples.

Sure would be great if Hyundai published a first hand source contradicting the 661 lb rating so we didn't have to hear it from second hand ones too.

The letter he read was from Hyundai. I wouldn't consider that second hand. Hyundai took the time to write him direct answers to his questions regarding payload. should they put that info in the Manual ..yes. so the Manual is unclear but Ford's Maverick is not only unclear but also inaccurate. ( or at least it was since I haven't seen the latest) Has Ford clarified in their brochure yet the fact you get power mirrors with the Co-Pilot and spare tire option?
