Isn't the stock battery AGM already?
No it is a flood acid battery with improved anode and/or cathodes that have possibly multipath connections to the plates to help distribute the higher amperage flows to help reduce internal heating.
One member here back in October posted that he got an AGM battery with his truck (I think it was a Lariat Eco AWD 4K tow), mine (Eco, AWD, 4K tow) was not AGM from the factory and my father who took delivery of his Maverick (Eco, AWD, 4k tow) last month did not have an AGM battery in his either. I replaced my non AGM with an Interstate AGM last November and haven't had an issue with Deep Sleep mode since after also updating the BMS with Forscan to let the system know I was running an AGM (Different charging profile). I don't know if they're only putting AGM batteries in Lariat trims or if it's just a random thing from the factory but there is no consistent information.
In manual (April 2022, second printing), (I have hybrid) there is an 8 hour procedure to follow (not the
Brake then flash light reset bms procedure) with all accessories off and truck locked and not disturbed for the up to 8 hours for the BMS to learn the SOC of the new battery. Look at "Battery management system (if equipped)" on page 312. Read the whole thing. It states this MAY need to be done also if battery is charged with an external charger. ALSO NOTE THAT BMS MAY DISABLE SOME ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS UNTIL IT RELEARNS THE BATTERY STATE OF CHARGE. I suspect some of the lights off or other things that keep reoccurring after a deep sleep MIGHT POSSIBLY BE CURED by following this procedure. Consider the possibility that the BMS thinks that the old not fully charged battery that could not be charged past 80% (or whatever soc) is the profile to follow. Someone at Ford did think this should possibly need to be done and put it in manual. ????

NOT THE RESET THE 8 HOUR RELEARN PROCEDURE

 First of all stop yelling, why are you typing in all caps, it's annoying. Second of all, my Maverick regularly sits for 1-2 weeks at a time without being driven so I think that more than accounts for the 8 hour rest period in addition to resetting the BMS.

You guys might want to go look at your battery. This is my XLT Tremors battery.

Like I said in direct response to your previous post, it seems to be random and who knows what it's based on whether it's trim or package dependent but my Maverick which was produced 5/22 did not have an AGM nor did my father's which was produced 11/22. Both were shipped from the factory with an "enhanced" flooded battery

I'm not sure of the factory-supplied blacktop batteries, but when the F150's started showing up with auto start-stop their replacement Motorcraft equivalent was almost always AGM. The line has changed a bit the last couple years but yea, big heavy AGM batteries so it's not a super-new thing for Ford.

I don't see the benefit to paying battery money for an AGM before it's necessary due to failure of your factory battery, but it's good to have options.

I have a sound system that uses a 60A fuse. I've never seen the lights dim, but I am sure the battery is seeing a big hit when you have headlights, AC and volume at 30. I also have autostop disabled, but if it were enabled, add a starter motor to that list.

A bunch of people - but not me - are trying to figure out how to extend battery life for accessories connected to 12V in cabin or bed. AGM survives deep drain a lot better than EFB.
____

NCND and NoVaJimmy yes my stock battery is EFB. Truck was built 7/3/22. It's a lariat lux ecoboost 4K tow. Agree that there seems to be no standard. If one were a pessimist they might think that AGM should always be supplied and we're getting EFB whenever they don't have the AGM battery on hand. Who knows?

Not cheap to replace a good battery.
$169 for Everstart Platinum AGM, or apparently the FoMoCo AGM H6, compared to $270 for Durastart Platinum AGM or $350 for Optima yellow top. That's the entire point of this thread. (y)

you can use Forscan if you want, but any Ford with a battery monitoring system (which is definitely the Maverick) you just replace the battery, ignition on (key or push button) but engine not running, and flash the high beams 5 times, then hit the brake pedal 3 times.

I have no idea why this guy shared the info while appearing to walk around a mall, but here you go.
Probably a stupid question. But do the headlights need to be on before you flash the highbeams? I ask because of the automatic headlights.

I think you would have to order from a local dealership, no one is going to ship you a car battery via any kind of parcel service. but it's helpful to have the Ford AGM part #, nice find.
Well, someone forgot to tell the shipping companies, because I've had four or five AGM batteries delivered by both FedEx and UPS directly to my house that was way out in the boonies. There is an upper weight limit for what they will ship because of OSHA regs - and not wanting to pay disability to their drivers - but I'm not sure what that limit is...

Most plausible answer is exactly that. "Forgot" to declare hazardous materials and just shipped it in a plain box.

But it's fine, and great. However you can get an AGM battery is good. Sounds like '23 has it standard which would be nice if true. I would not be shocked to see someone post a pic of a '23 ecoboost with an EFB though. :sneaky:
