We’ll guys, it happened

Someone ran into me while at a light and shop finally took it in to get it looked at. Went from “we can fix it but it’ll take a month for parts“ to “looks like the frame rails are bent and might need to total it.

The car that hit me must of went under the bumper and hit the frame as the bumper itself is not that bad. I told the shop I thought it would be a quick and easy fix, but looks like that’s not the case.

I’ve seen now 5 of these In what, the last2 months? Makes me wonder if insurance on these will go up given just how easy it is to total.

update; insurance indeed totaled out the truck. Seems the hitch caused most of the force to be transfer to the frame. Never saw it coming to be honest.

most of the bent frame totals were from rear side impacts, you might get lucky. From the photo it doesn't look terrible.

Oh no :(

Seems to be a reoccurring thing getting rear ended with probably as many as you mentioned before yours.

Sucks. As for your last question, I doubt it given rear enders are usually paid for by the other guy.

Hey, @Administrator, hate to say this but we might need a "RIP Maverick" sub forum...

I might, but I’ll find out today. I think it’s due to the hitch getting the impact and the frame taking the full hit.

They claimed “I was just looking down and it happened” they made sure to tell police “I wasn’t using my phone or anything bad like that” like yeah ok. 😒

"Officer, I was just looking down away from the road, not at a phone which makes it better, when I was already following too close. So you can't fault me!"

I hear ya. I swear driving skills have gotten so bad lately. Red lights are suggestions, people don’t give you room etc. if I do get another truck; it’ll sit garage and never leave 😂

To which the police wrote, "was looking at their phone."

They do enough of these accidents to know.

Worst part? It was at a red light, people started to go and she just gassed it right into me before my lane moved. How does one look down when pressing the gas to go? Makes no sense to me

Oh yes, she is definitely looking at her phone. I've been driving too long to not recognize this one.

In my old car, at one point I got rearended three times in six months. All three times I was at a complete stop at a red light (only one of those was severe enough to actually put the car in the shop for an extended period of time)
