Everytime I'm at the dealer they ask me if anything needs repaired (all of my vehicles are new and under warranty). I don't know anyone at the dealership and I did not purchase any of my vehicles from this dealership. This just happens to be the closest dealer to my house and that makes oil changes and miscellaneous visits more convenient. This is my explanation for the warranty work making the dealer 🤑 big money!
It sounds like you have found a dealership that understands what customer service is and how important it is to keep its customers happy, which in turns encourages repeat business. Even though you didn't buy this vehicle there, they are hoping you come to them when it's time to get a new car or truck, plus you are giving good word of mouth advertising.

If it weren't important, Ford and their suppliers wouldn't be manufacturing 130,000 airbags and replacing them free of charge under a recall. We're talking about millions of dollars here in parts and labor.
With the NHTSA involved, they are trying to avoid fines and penalties, not make the truck any safer. Remember, Ford was the company that decided that it would be cheaper to pay lawsuits for the Ford Pinto gas tank problem than to actually fix it.

Don't forget my 1971 Ford Torino with the F type transmission. The transmission was known to jump out of park and into reverse. Ford's solution was to send me a sticker that said to make sure car was in park and apply the parking brake.

I finally spoke to someone in the service department today. He said he had to order the part, so he took my contact info and said he'd contact me when it arrives. I forgot to confirm if I'll be getting my Yeti tumbler, but I'm not leaving there without it or equal compensation.

The lawsuit – John Solak v. Ford Motor Company, The lawsuit claims that Ford’s fix – replacing the airbags with a revised design – doesn’t guarantee that the problem will be rectified, as the automaker hasn’t yet figured out the root cause.
Mainly their argument is harping on cherry picking part of the initial filing report Ford made to the NHTSA:

In July 2022, Ford conducted FMVSS 226 certification testing, including the front lower primary target, on a 2022 model year Maverick equipped with new current batch side curtain air bags from the assembly plant. The displacement results of three samples tested at the front lower primary target were between 102 and 107.3 mm. The data from this recent test was compared to the data in Ford’s certification test from December 2020 and there were no root causes identified to explain the difference in performance. The root cause analysis is still under investigation.
So in the <1 month from confirming the issue to filing Ford hadn't determined the cause, but that doesn't mean they didn't in the intervening period before the revised airbags started being installed.

I received the letter that said the parts were available to the Dealers. I went to dealers website to schedule appointment. As I entered my VIN, the recall notice popped up automatically under "service requested". The 1st appointment available was March 17, 2023.
I hope this allows the dealer plenty of time to order and receive the part. I plan on leaving it all day as I don't know how many of these replacements they have done.
I will update next month!

I wouldn't rely on that process happening the way you think it will. I did the same, showed up to the appointment, was told by the service advisor that A) they still couldn't get OR order the parts and B) they couldn't even do the trailer brake recall despite me having an appointment because they were overbooked.

Just returned from a CA dealer in a major city.

Said:
"No air bag stock until Q3 2023."

"The few we have are only for people with MIL "lights" on, or to replace bags already deployed."

Basically, don't call us, we'll call you. You can't just get it done because you want it. You need to have a bona-fide problem. That said. The airbags in there now are 99.99% effective so just ignoring this one isn't a bad option.
🤷🏻‍♂️

You will want to call them to make sure the part is ordered. The ordering process for some recalls (like this one), does not go through "normal" channels.

Just posting this to see if anyone else has run into this. I recived another letter from Ford stating that the parts for my curtain airbag replacement under recall are now avaialble. I called my dealer to have them ordered and I was told that they cannot order them unless they are deployed. I told him that was BS and not what the letter from Ford stated. Has anyone ran into this? Should I call another dealership?
I read an article that said there was a pending law suit saying the recall repairs were not an adequate fix. I would guess there is no reason to do it twice to get it right, why not wait until it is settled? I for one am not worried about mine enough to push the recall replacement.
